    Default This just felt good

After losing 450$ due to a course of bad plays and bad beats, I began to tighten up and realized LAG doesnt quite work at 400 NL 10 max lol (it actually works better at 200 NL than 400 Nl for some strange reason). Then this beauty comes along, and this poor guy makes the all-time STUPIDIST play on the river, overbetting the pot like his pocket kings were the nuts. Needless to say he signed away his whole stack. I mean either I was bluffing and would just fold to his bet or I had the ace and he would lose his stack.. catch 22 for him if he bets like that.

I don't think i'd have the heart to lay down KK on that even if i thought you had the ace.

Actually its not a difficult laydown. Laying down a full house to quads with trips on the board is quite doable. The reason being, its just not that rare for your opponent to have quads. All he has to have is one specific card in his hand. Now if the board had just a pair on it and you had the nut boat, then it would be impossible to lay it down, since that would require your opp to have TWO specific cards to make the quads to beat your hand (50 times more rare!). Do you see the difference?

I'm also sure you've laid down a king high flush to an ace high flush with 4-to-a-flush on the board. Its the exact same thing (as laying a FH down to quads on a tripped board), only in this case your laying down your hand to the possiblity of your opponent have 1 specific card in his hand, the ace of that suit.

That river bet by him was so -EV that it somehow breaks statistics.

I think the villain made bad plays on all streets. He only doubles the bb preflop which I guess is okay, but then he proceeds to check/call his hand instead of leading out with a bet to see where he's at. A smart player wouldn't have made it to the river and put himself in this delicate situation at the river to begin with.

I like it. I may check the turn on a tight plr but a weak "betting for information $20" ploy works too - $40 may scare off a tight plr. The last A is a gift from the poker gods.

This is only true for the A. If I have AA and the board is QQQxx or especially QQQKx all the money is getting in.
