Media Center PC or Traditional Home Theater?
Well now that I have an HDTV. I am looking at the sorry state of my current AV line up. When originally purchased back in 1998 it was the latest and greatest. As we all know progress waits for no man.
My question is. Do I go the traditional Home Theater route or give a media pc a twirl? I would suspect that in order for me to get the very best picture quality. I need to utilize either my DVI or VGA inputs on my television. And none of the cable or satellite services currently have outputs for either of these formats yet, that I have seen. Nor do any traditional home theater recievers have these outputs either. The best I can do for picture quailty in this sense is a component output.
All the hoopla with Media PC's are thier ease of use and jack of all trades funtionality. All you need in addtion would be an amplifier for your speakers As the PC acts as the reciever, DVD player and Tivo.
So are any of you guys running everything that encompasses home audio/video through your PC or have a media center? I just want the best picture quailty money can buy. I have to stick with my cable provider. As they do not charge for thier HD channels. You just have to rent the HD box they provide. Which is a wash as you pay rent on thier boxes anyways.
