It's called good marketing. You now remember that Geico has those commercials.
To me, when I shop for auto insurance, I will now at least look at their rates rather than forgetting them all together and THAT'S what marketing is all about
: putting your product in the mind of the consumer when he's thinking about purchasing a product that you might offer.
That's all it is, pure and simple. They just have the bankroll and the persistence to keep at it.
Contrast this with...oh...say "burger king", which dropped the "have it your way" catch phrase. What's their catch phrase now? Yeah, that's what I thought. Maybe that song "bacon cheddar ranch"...but I doubt it.
Or better yet, contrast this with Al's insurance barn. Do you know Al's Insurance Barn exists? When you go to look for insurance plans, will you consult Al's prices? I didnt think so. Case in point
Geico might have gone a little bit overboard, but it's much better to go way overboard than to not market enough; I'm sure that these commercials have and will pay themselves off several times over.
edit: but if you're just ranting, don't take any offense to any of this. Good rant.
