Why you raise AK preflop, and bet your top pair

this hand today highlighted the need for aggression with AK.

Aweful play by your opp. Not only did he fail to raise it preflop but he gave a free card to any flush draw and gave great implied odds to any straight or flush draws on the turn. These are precisely the kinds of opps you want to play against.

Ridiculous. Psychology gone bad. For some people, it's against their religion to bet when they catch a hard hand. The slow play impulse starts warming their heart.

Definately a classic example of someone erasing their read.

Slowplaying at the wrong time destroys your read when you need it most. Sometimes, you really need to know that a late street raise has you beat, and isn't a medium strength hand reacting to your show of weakness.

You really can't access the "what does my opponent think I think they have" type of stuff without a proper representation of your actual hand on certain dangerous boards.

He thought that you thought he was weak, therefore he thought there was a good chance you had a weaker two pair when you raised. He wasn't thinking.

Never ever ever slowplay Big Slick.He breaks you enough when you do fastplay him;only time you can slowplay is if you flop trips or a boat.
