    Default Played too passively?

I thought about check-raising the turn, but thought I might be burying myself if he flopped a set. Instead I opted just to call. Too weak, or smart?

looks fine to me against a normal person.

Probe raise all day. His min raise on the flop reeked of TP looking for information.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

    Raise when, and why?

Rondavu I believe is stating to re-raise (correct me if I'm wrong) after your opponnents raise. I agree with his comment. If he has a real strong hand he'll probably raise 3x $8. His raise of $12 is showing that he's got top pair, not a lot of juice behind it and wants you gone for the least amount of money possible.
Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in your first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker.

Drop the hammer immediately. You're ahead enough for it to be profitable after he showed min-reraise weakness.

Don't you guys see sets and two pair min raising this flop to juice the pot as often as you see TP probe bets?

I was thinking the same thing, PokerPat.

I guess if he was really holding a set on that board, he'd probably smooth call, as there aren't many turn cards that hurt him and a min-raise is a red flag to me as well. Then again, a smooth call also has the same red flags on a draw-less board.
