    Default failed bluff

    .25/.50 NL25 6max
well i think i did this wrong, not sure though, the player may have just been a call station.

    i have $57 stack
    villain has $42

    i am dealt in EP

    i raise it to 4.5BB ($2.25)
    villain is only caller

    flop

    i check
villain throws out a weak bet, about 1/4 pot.
i raise it to the pot
he thinks a good while before calling

    turn

i think he has either K weak kicker, or flush draw, which can both be thrown off their hand
    so i bet 2/3 pot, $10 bet
he thinks a good while before calling

    river

    pot is $35

I think, ok either he just missed a flush or has me with a set, so i bet $12
theory being that the flush draw would fold but its less of a loss to the set

he calls with K10 no flush draw.

so should i have just let go after the flop, or after the turn.. or are the bets making sense/ are they the right size bets??

also, the preflop raise then check/raise flop.. does that seem too much like a missed AQ trying to take it?
    villain goes AI
i call with a set (i have him owned)
    i win pot

Do you have aggression problems? This hand was a a complete screw up from the start: throw this away in EP. You don't want to play drawing hands in EP. In NL25 and NL50, in EP, you want to focus on making TPGK or better and getting the them to pay for their draw (which they will usually miss). From LP you can play the occassionally drawing hand, try to pick up an occassional cheap pot and use position to make them pay even more for the draws. I've found all other plays to leak money at these levels.

hahah.. yes of late i have been too aggressive.. but for this site/level it usualy isnt a problem.. just part of the lagg style.. but thanks for the info, it shall apply very much to other games i play.

I did take it a bit too far in this hand though i guess

I sometimes find myself caught up in failed bluff attempts like this.

I know the guy doesn't have much of a hand but I just can't get him to lay it down.

Considering he will call his stack off to you with TP and a shitty kicker, why not just make TPGK and make him pay you off?

Sorry that last line was directed at myself..
