A new NL ring challenge
I was reading dwarfman's ring challenge about buying in for the minimum at each level and only moving up when you have made the buy in for the next level. While reading it I had my own idea for a new challenge.
Mine will be similar in that you'll need to move up through NL ring levels, but will differ in that we'll be measuring hourly rate and money management by seeing how fast you progress through the levels while playing within your growing bankroll. Here are the rules.
You start with $100 bankroll. Just as if you're a 'beginner' (some of us, like me, are still at that level). You MUST play within your bankroll(10 buy-ins), so you need to start at the NL $10, you may not move up until you have 10 buy-ins for the next level. Thus, you'll need a $250 bankroll to hit the NL $25 tables. You may buy-in for less than the max, but the limits you play are defined by the max buy-in vs bankroll, regardless of what you actually buy-in for. No buying into the NL 25 for $10 when you're BR is still below $250. Its as much an exercise in money management as it is about beating each level. If you fall below the minimum for that level, say dropping from $250 to $190, you must go back down one level and rebuild the roll to the necessary size before moving back up.
The real challenge is not to merely go from level to level, but to do it quickly which will translate into a higher hourly rate for that level.
So if you go from NL 10 to NL 25 in 5 hours, then you're hourly rate for NL 10 is $30 an hour.
The truly good players will be able to adapt to each level and progress fairly quickly. I'm curious to see what kind of numbers we'll have.
When posting, please post the level you just completed, the amount of hours it took to complete it and the calculated hourly rate for that level.
Thoughts/suggestions on this challenge is welcome.
