Default Was this a bad play?

Just wondering if this was a bad play or I SHOULD have won.

    Okay dealt QQ.

    I'm late position, he's BB. I raised 4x BB (200 chips).

    Flop J 9 4 rainbow.

    He bets 100 chips. I re-raised to 100+400 chips.

    He calls.

    Turn: 9

    He goes all in.

This is where I thought I had him b/c by the way the betting was going on he was representing the J.

Of course he turned over 7/9o.

Should I end myself for bad play or is he just a bad player?

    Thanks,

    Default ?

What's your read on your opponent? Namely, is he the type of player who will call a 4xBB raise, out of position, with a hand which a 9 improves?

Does he make this call preflop with A9? K9s?

Does he push with the nuts because he has the nuts? Does he push with the nuts because he wants to make you think he's bluffing at the pot?

Obviously, once he pushes and shows you the 97o, you know that he's loose, aggressive, fairly straight-forward, and probably doesn't understand the importance of position (unless he thinks he's out of your league post-flop).

The key is picking up on this information before this hand.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but it's important to consider. We probably all know the feeling of getting stacked by a guy like this.

Don't forget to mention the stack size. If you were both 5000 chip size, then your call wasn't good. But if you were both 1000 chip size, you were way too pot commited to fold this and he did a very bad call and got lucky.

It all depends on if he had implied odds to make this call on the flop.

thanks for the replies. I never played this guy before so I didnt have a good read on him in the least bit. I know the other guys I was playing with so I pretty much knew the way they bet/play. Oh well, next time I will know better.
