Default Hand from the Stars $500k, nothing seems right

    Don't have the hand history:

I'm in the big blind with JJ. blinds are 100/200. I have a pretty decent stack of about 11k. a guy with about a 10k stack raises to 600 from MP, and the guy behind him, who leaves himself 4,000 calls. MP is playing pretty tight, trying to protect his chips, seems to be playing mostly ABC poker. no real good idea about the other guy. so I raise it up to 2,000 (I think this may have been my first mistake, I'm out of position, but I have a strong hand and want to try to either pick up the pot right there or get it heads-up. actually, I guess it was kind of a Harrington sqeeze play: I figured the big chip stack wouldn't want to ge involved with me, and since the other guy just called I figured he couldn't be that strong, so I figured there was a good chance I'd take it down pre-flop)

So the big stack folds, the other guy calls. there is 4700 in the pot an 2 players. the board comes 239 rainbow. so what do I do?

I figure I can't check here, He could have AK, AQ, KQ and I don't want to give him a free card. however, any bet I make that's decent (like half the pot, about 2300) committs me to calling his all-in. so then I figure maybe just pushing myself is the right play. But pushing seems to only get called by hands that have me beat unless he has TT, and he may lay that down (I figured he'd lay down A9 or something like that, but I don't think he had that) So in that situation, it seems like I'm risking the most and winning the least. so checking seems wrong, betting seems wrong, pushing seems wrong, what do i do?

He has 3400 left and the pot is 4700 or 4925 depending on antes, you have a flop of all undercards, so you have to play the hand for the rest of his chips. I would usually just bet his stack right here. If you are going to raise to 2000 preflop you have to be willing to play for the small guys stack.

Yeah, play for his stack. You'll most likely take it down right there since it sounds like he won't call of his chips with ~AK high. It's possible he is slowplaying a monster, but if he had QQ-AA he probably would have raised you preflop after just calling.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

Play for stacks here... what kind of flop do you want for JJ? (well a flop with a J on it is preferably) but if you are going to play it that strong and get that flop, you have to go AI with it
Dealer: bencathers has two pair, Aces and Deuces
Dealer: Tbags has two pair, Kings and Jacks
Dealer: Tbags finished the tournament in 256th place
Tbags [observer]: another scumbag gets there on this site lol

I bet slightly less than his stack here. Lets say he has AK, AQ. You really don't mind either an all-in or a fold here. He folds, you take down a nice pot. He calls, you go in as a heavy favorite with 2 cards to go with awesome pot odds. I bet about 2800-3000. By doing this you're saying to him, "i'm calling your push, so don't try it if you can't beat me." This bet actually seems more intimidating than betting or his stack or pushing, it screams strength where an overbet screams "i'm putting pressure on you because I don't want a call." You also set yourself up for an easy call if/when he pushes. Anyone else agree?

I don't think push vs bettig all but 400 makes any difference.

Obv. you're playing here. If you want to fold this flop, limp along instead, which is too weak here IMO. You want to make a big enough bet that him calling with overs is a mistake, from there it's up to him.

yes, thts my play. bet 1/2 - 3/4 of opp stack for the the reasons you mentioned above.

I think this is a clear value bet, call any raise. My fear is that if I push he will turn turtle (although it's a horrible move - it happens all the time). The only real draw is 45, which seems kinda unlikely. If he has overcards or a pair, he has 5-6 outs, so 1/2 pot doesn't give him correct odds - might induce a bluff as well (although it's only a bluff if at least 1 of his cards are < J)
