Thoughts? I didn't raise because the other players are wild and loose, so I was playing more cautious as SB preflop (since positioning is really bad)... I overbet the pot on the river hoping to get a call or even a raise-bluff as MP is a wild player. When he went all-in I figured he had trips. I'll let you guys comment before I reveal the result.

On the river I'd probably re-raise him more than the minimum, yes he could have the full house, but he played it like he had 56 or some other crap.

Not to mention if he does have the fullhouse, hes gonna raise you all in if you just min-raise again, and if he doesn't, he's probably not going to, so basically you've lost value against the weaker hand, and the couple of hands that can beat you will just make you pay up, unless you are willing to fold that straight.

Your play wasn't horrible, just not a fan of the min-raise on the end.

Yup. You both slow played your monsters. In the end, his monster got bigger than yours and whipped your monster's ass.

When a board pairs and a previously dormant player comes alive like this I slow down and call...Sometimes you'll find out your opponent has two pair and you were clubbing him all the way (and could have gotten more), but sometimes you'll get destroyed here and you'll be looking to click the rebuy button.

The only thing id say is that when the board pairs and i have the straight/flush and get raised i CALL i dont reraise, because ive seen enough crap filling up that im not getting stacked. I m probably losing some value, i lost a stack load in an MTT the other day but rather i lose a bit of value than some stack

Thanks for the analysis everyone. I agree that I should have called his river-raise rather than RE-raising. Although I wouldn't be "maximizing my wins", at least I am "minimizing my losses" quite a bit. I'm sure this has happened to me before as well, so it seems to be a +EV move to call in the end rather than re-raise.

Btw, his hand? He had 99 !!! It sure surprised the hell out of me.

Bet the flop, it will do lots of good things for you.

Because the pot is so small it's hard to get value out of your hand on the turn. I would just pot it because it's a small pot and pairs will stick around.

3-betting this river is really terrible.
