Default Do I hate money, or does this call have any merit?

    *** River *** : [ 7s 8d 3s 8c ] 9h

Is this acceptable given the way the hand went down? As mentioned in another post Maindefer seemed to be a solid player capable of bluffing here.

I probably play several worse hands every time I sit down. It's fine.

bet the flop and try to end it right there... I think calling the turn and river without improving is wrong though

If he had any hand on the flop, he would have bet since there are two suited. So, it's unlikely the 8 really improves his hand. Then he bets 1/3 pot on the turn, which seems like a week attempt to buy it. River could have made his hand, but it's not a terrible call.

I don't like it. I think he has a 7 in his hand or he has 66 or whatever, I think he has a pair.

If you're going to check behind that flop, then raise him on the turn to see how much he likes his hand when you decide to stay in. If you don't feel like raising in this spot, then you need to fold. The logic is that by staying, you've somehow concluded AK is good. The action that accompanies that logic is to raise.

    Calling is almost always wrong
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
