heh, i like the full metal jacket replies, but our company commanders weren't that crazy. It makes me want to rent that movie when I get home.
I'm sitting in the Philidelphia airport waiting on my flight home, so I'll try to tell a few stories for you guys. From what I've heard, Coast Guard bootcamp is rated 2nd toughest as far as bootcamps go, behind the Marines of course. The first 4 weeks were real hard, but it got progressively easier as it got closer to graduation. A guy I came with from TX said it was going to be easy, then by week 3, he was on suicide watch(being watched closely because he said he was going to kill himself).. he was sent home for depression soon after. I saw an ex marine in my company who spent time in Iraq, break down in tears one night while we were about to go to sleep, and that kind of made me realize just how much we were going through at the time.
They didn't make us do 200 push ups a day, but we did get lots of sleep deprevation and just all kinds of crazy drills at random times. Since the Coast Guard is a life saving service, they focus on mental stress and sleep deprevation, and not running 2 miles a day or doing a ton of physical training.
Anyway, it's tough to put it all in a few paragraphs, but i'll be around more as of tomorrow. My flight boards in a few minutes, so i'll catch up with you all later on tonight or tomorrow, peace
