Default Q88 board, what to do

I am pretty fresh at the table. Table captain is LAG and in all unraise pots. He is on quite a run. $45 to $75 in last orbit. Showing down a str8 and a rivered 2pair that counterfeited another guy's 2 pair. He is willing to raise and reraise as he did on the 2 pair hand. Other than that table is passive and letting everyone draw super cheap.

    $25NL full ring

I am MP1 and raise to $1 with KQ, Table Captain(Button) calls, SB & BB both call.

    4 to the fizzidy ($4.00) Q 8 8
SB & BB Check. I check knowing Button will bet so I can CR. He does bet $1. SB calls, BB folds. I check-raise to $4. Button re-raises to $8. SB folds. I call $4. At this point, I don't like my hand as much as I did. But I convince myself my read is right and he is over playing AK or on a pure bluff.
    Turn($21.00) 6
I check. Button bets $3.00. I call. I let this convice me of weakness
River($27.00) K Oh shit, here is my card. Now I have top 2pr. If he is overplaying anything but an 8, I have him beat.
    I bet $5.00. He raises me all-in. I call $7.75.

By the time I called the river I knew I should have check/folded the river to any sizeable bet. Do I blame my read or is this just bad poker? Constructive criticism please.

Tough one. I'm a fishy so take my words for what little they're worth.

I think you ran into the LAGGY trap - you don't know when they're overplaying trash and when they're suckering you in thinking that they're overplaying trash. Get it?

Check-raising the flop is tricky. Someone (FTrererer IIRC) wrote "don't c/r unless you're willing to push with it"; though I don't always believe this, it's a useful guideline.

Anyways, if you call the reraise I think you have to lead out on the turn or else go to check/call mode, calling a reasonable river bet.

Have you seen villian show down some complete triple barrell bluffs? Has he been overvaluing marginal hands? (ie is it possible for him to be playing QJ this way?) I think I might fold to the flop 3-bet. LAGs love to raise and reraise, but whenever someone 3-bets, it is very rarely done without a big hand. Put it this way, given the flop action, what hands do you put LAG on that you are ahead of?

But it seems given the read you had you were willing to take your hand to the felt. The river king is more of a sucker card. Besides AQ, you are still ahead of any hand you were previously beating, and still behind to any hand you were behind to before the river. Therefore I would check/call the river, since you obviously put him on a total bluff since you weren't scared away by the flop action. The only good reason to bet the river like you did is if you put him on a weaker queen, like QJ/QT and think he will make a crying call on the end. I personally think this is very unlikely. The way it looks, I think you ran into trips/boat.

PS: I would bet this flop tho. How can you be so sure he's gonna take a stab at it in a 4-way pot on a very dry board?

Oh, I completely agree. My comments above are sarcastic toward my initial thoughts.
On the flop, I knew he would bet this hand. He is betting anything that is checked to him. Very Laggy. I am just a little surprised he held the goods:

    Results:
Opponent held 86os. Ouch, didn't see that coming. Well until the river raise, but even then I was not disciplined enough to fold.

Thanks for the help. You're right, it takes a good hand to 3-bet the flop.

Two pair is like the girl you meet at closing time: Play it fast, and don't get married to it.
