Operation Nl 6-max
Hello, my name is Robert, and I'm a 20 year old lawstudent from the little scandinavian country Denmark. I've been playing NLHE for almost a year now (since march 2005). In that year I've been playing a ton of sngs (both regulars and turbos at stars and the 800-chippers at party) and around 10k hands of NL 25 full ring bonuswhoring (basicly nutpeddling). In december and early january this year I played some NL 25 6-max at party, and I was really running hot. I had (and still have) a lot of huge leaks in my game though and when they finally showed I lost a lot and I ended up tilting the rest of my winnings from 6-max away. I decided to take a forced 3-week break from online poker.
And so here I am. I've decided to focus on one specific form of poker and try to excel in that. As the title hints I'm talking about NL 6-max ring. I really enjoyed playing the few hands of 6-max I played in december and early januar. NL 6-max ring is mostly postflop poker, and really, after playing tons of sngs it becomes boring to focus on preflop decisions. "Preflop poker" just isnt really poker to me, postflop is where it gets interesting (this is just my personal oppinion and I understand and respect if you have a different oppinion).
My plan is to deposit $500 into my Party account (my BR is around 2.5k but I want to start from scratch with 20 buyins for NL 25) and start playing NL 25. I will move up to NL50 when I reach $1000 in my PP account and NL100 when I reach $2000 in my account. I will start singletabling ("yawn", I know, but I really want get all the basics for 6-max down before I begin multitabling) and when I feel ready I will expand to 2 tables and maybe more later on.
I really dont want to set specific goals. Money goals and winrate goals are stupid for a various reasons. Playing a number of hands can be a good goal, but as I'm going to have a busy semester at university I dont really want to stress myself by having to play a specific number of hands. I have one goal though and that is:
"To make the correct decision in every situation in poker"
I will try to keep you updated on my operation at least once per week. Once a week I'll also try to find a couple of leaks I've discovered in my game and post them here in order to force myself to fix them. Hopefully this can be helpful for other players as well.
I will start playing next week. Wish me good luck in my new poker adventure!
