Since moving up to $50NL, I've been experiencing a different kind of opponent. He/she can be characterized as loose/aggressive but not a maniac.

For example, I hold AQo on the button and it's folded to me and I make my standard preflop raise. Only caller is the BB (overbettor). Flop comes Q high rainbow. Now either one of two things occurs: 1) BB checks I make a pot-sized bet and then BB raises large or 2) BB leads for an overbet (2-3x size of the pot).

One of my goals with TPTK is not to get married to the hand. Secondly, I don't want to play if for a large pot. But these opponents that overbet are giving me some trouble and I'm not sure how to play them. Currently, I'm releasing my hand unless I have two-pair or better on the flop - but I think this is not optimum play against this kind of opponent. I guess I really just need to grow a pair and reraise but that seems to be moving me out of my gameplan with TPTK - and the worst thing is, I think my overbetting opponent knows it... Confused

Thoughts????
