    Default 99 boat (semi-deep)

First off, here is a previous hand I observed from villian. He raises 3xBB or to $6 UTG with ATs and just about the whole table calls, so by the time the action gets around to the SB, the pot is about $35. SB pushes for about $70 total, and villian calls.

Villian in this hand liked to play a lot of hands, and is what I would consider to be a borderline calling station. Definitely not tight by any means. Table was loose, so I decided to limp preflop. Villian's flop call means any two cards. I have never seen him raise the turn like that before though, so it caught me by surprise. My image is TAG, but I'm not even sure villian knows this. Do you 3-bet the turn or call with the intention of CR'ing all in on the river?

*Keep in mind that after villian's raise to $60 I have about $225 left and he covers. Pot on river was $140.

    SB ($181.50)
    BB ($282.50)
    Hero ($292.75)

    MP2 ($294.75)
    MP3 ($157.50)
    CO ($197.50)
    Button ($342.75)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 9, 9. SB posts a blind of $1.
Hero calls $2, 6 folds, Button calls $2, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $6, Button calls $6, SB folds, BB folds.

    Turn: ($20) T (2 players)
Hero bets $12, Button raises to $60, Hero calls $48.

I think I'd lead the river strong. You don't want him to check behind and he might just push over your bet.

I might just reraise. If he has trips, there are several scare cards which could come for him on the river. If he's a bad player, he probably thinks trip 10's is the nuts on the turn, so I'd try to get his money in. He might be intimidated with K-J if you reraise, but if he's a calling station, I doubt he's folding.

I like a 3-bet turn, push river. Assuming your best here (QT and 9T just suck here), there's a lot of rivers that could kill your action if he has Tx, which I think is his most likely holding. If he does have a ten, I think invariably this player stacks off with it, even in a limped pot.

This line really shows a tremendous amount of strength, but I don't think this villain gets any of that. He's the one that's going to call your big reraise out of the blinds with AJo and call you down on a J high flop.

I think it's safe to assume villain would've raised QQ pre-flop, given the read.

    three things i see.
    1. Opp could have ANY two, thats been made clear. So no hand is unlikly here
    2. Betting the ten (or at least it looks like we are) invites a reraise from any hand that beats it. That includes both the KJ straight and the J8 straight. SO being raised on the turn isnt a surprise. Theyre are at least two hands that would foregtting we could be way behind a full house too.
    3. Opp has never made such a raise before which is a problem in itself. If i had that to mind while i called the turn id seriously think about check calling the river. The alarm bells have to be ringing. And as said, we have the worst boat.
So, i think i play the turn as said and check call the river. If this wasnt the only time opp has done this then id be looking to either get all in on the turn or call the turn with the option of open pushing the river.

I think you're giving this villian waaayyy too much credit for a better hand than mine when he raises the turn. Flopped straight and Tx are his most likely holdings IMO. I was 100% willing to go broke if he did have me beat.

Looking back, I think Lukie and dsaxton had the right idea of 3-betting the turn and pushing the river. Given my read there was probably little chance of him folding a straight or Tx to a turn 3-bet, say to $140. However, I think a river CR all in would've worked well too. His raise to $60 didn't exactly seem like a "please give me a free showdown" type raise. Plus, I should've mentioned it before, but I was planning on leading any potential scare cards for trips on the river, but if the river was a total blank I would've CR'ed AI.

Miffed, you make some good points, but I think you too are giving this villian too much credit and missing value by check/calling the river. There's almost no way I wouldn't play for 150BB stacks in this particular situation.

Well here are the results. River was the T and I puked and check/folded to his $90 bet.
    Fnord, what do you think?

On the turn, I think his range is J8/KJ/QT/TJ/T9/Tx each of which this villain will probably call my push with...thus I would be playing for stacks if a card, say, 7 or lower fell on the river (as well as a 9 obviously). A river A/K/8 I would check-call. River T/Q give us an easy fold facing a bet of any real size. A River J i would fold facing a bet of over 60$
