    Default JJ out of position

How's my line here? Sat down a bit ago, villain seems solid and isn't playing a whole lot of hands.

I'm thinking betting out the turn, fold to a raise is a better line here than c/r.

    thoughts?

I don't like to CR unless I am willing to get it all in. Some fool at 25NL will inevitably push that with two overs and I lay it down. At my level, it is as if a check-raise challenges people's manhood. Which is great with a nut hand, but not so great to a re-raise with a marginal holding.

I think you played it fine. I like betting out $20 on the turn and folding to a raise though. If smooth called I check the river and hope for a cheap show down. AA-KK he should check behind on the river. Trips will value bet a safe board.

Why is check/calling the turn not being given serious consideration?

I don't know, but I think it should be.

I don't see where you benefit from calling $10 turn bet. You don't gain any information & you give up control of the hand. I guess at least you have position for the river.

You get a cheap showdown against a tight player who is showing intrest.

I don't think he's calling with overcards so there aren't many scare cards. Only the A really.

I think betting the turn is the best line though.

    you have three options:
    a) cr (like you did) to 25-30 cause it accomplishes the same thing, while not eliminating all hands that you are ahead of, but you still fold to the re-raise.
    b) check call
    c) lead out for $22 or so.

Generally i lead out and fold to a raise, if they are aggro i check call to let them hang themselves with a worse hand. Without any knowledge of a player here, i don't like to CR because i like to have a very strong hand or a weak hand (ie air) to cr, when you have a decent hand it can get very nasty sometimes and the other two options work better.

Generally I would bet this turn, somewhere around $15-18 and fold to a raise. Check/call is also a possibility as it controls the pot size and disguises the strength of your hand. I would probably block the river if I did c/c.

I really don't hate your CR here though, although I think $25-30 gets the job done just fine. I think you just happened to run into a set however. I like using this CR line against habitual floaters, often times with making this play with air. But given your read on this villian I don't think CR'ing here is the best play. What do you do on a blank river if he calls the CR? What about an AKQ river? At this point the pot is huge and you are out of position with a very marginal hand, and really can't afford to call a big river bet.

hes probably got kk-aa and just called your pf raise looking to trap, or hes got a set.
theres not much on the flop to call you with.
i like the check raise, but 30 is fine.

Do I get royalties? $0.10 per post sound about right?
