He appears to be value betting the river, which is a good indicator that he can beat 1 pair.
Tough call there if you made it and won.

He doesn't seem to be afraid of a flush or straight - bad sign.

No idea. My guess is two clubs, likely with Ace, he check-calls flush when you rep your monster, then board doenn't pair and he value-bets it.

Or he has just two wafflez or weird 2 broadway pair.

I'd check behind the turn and go for cheap showdown on river. TPTK on flushed KJQ board isn't worth of 100BB river call.

HUGE LEAK IN MY GAME!!!

He showed AT for the straight.

I kicked myself afterward because I have a HUGE problem making laydowns on the river. I didn't put him on the straight because he called a huge raise preflop, so I thought he had a big ace. I was hoping to price him out of a draw on the flop, so when he called, I foolishly discounted the ability of people to chase for the wrong price. On the turn I should have known I was beat when he called me after I repped the monster. When he bet the river I should have laid it down, but I (foolishly) did not believe him. I figured I only had to be right once out of three times to be ahead long term (was that right?). This was a horrible, spewing, call and I knew it after the fact. THE LEAK IS THAT I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO KNOW THIS IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE!!!

Do other people have this problem of not folding on the river? If so, how do you cure it (outside of busting your bankroll and having to pick yourself up out of the ashes)?

Maybe I am better off picking up those little pots on the flop and turn after all (just kidding-venting and kicking myself for a minute)....

I look at this hand and I think it's amazing that I am actually in the black for my small 1600 hand sample....keep doing this kind of crap and I won't be.

Why are you calling? I often call thin on the river, but I'm usually right when I do so. This was clearly not one of those times for you. In this situation with the villain value betting into me, I expect to see at least two pair flipped over a VERY large percentage of the time.

I called because my read of big A (probably AQ or split pot of AK) was a horrible read. I discounted the flush and straight because I thought he surely wouldn't call bets of almost 2/3 the pot with just a draw....so basically I thought he was full of crap...

VERY HORRIBLE PLAY ON MY PART!!!

I generally have trouble in a hand when the initiative turns from me to a villain. I think "how dare you bet into me when I have been doing the betting all along", or "you raise me, well try this...". Nutritious for the ego until the cards get flipped over. Very poisonous mindset that I am working through. I vow that I will work through it, though, and beat this level! Need to think more about hand reading skills and mathematics.

This is not unfamiliar to me. Before I was a winning player I would put people on what I wanted them to have instead of more likely hands.

Here's my read: He called the flop. I don't really see him calling there with anything but a draw. When the club comes he calls your bet again, which is supposed to mean he's looking to improve. Then a 4 of hearts comes, and he bets!? This screams a slowplay. He didn't improve his hand on the river, he did on the turn.

Your right about the point you make on his turn bet call. The 2nd best hand you beat here is KT. WHO PLAYS KT ?!?! .. Other than that donk down the street playing any 2 sooted high cards.

When your opponent smooth calls your turn bet alarm bells should be ringing in your head. the Q of clubs made the straight and the flush and was the worst possible card that could have come off. When you opponent is smooth calling a scary board like that on the turn, the likliehood of him running a sophisticated bluff or continuing with a hand that you can beat is very unlikely
