Default How good a hand do you need to call a maniac (PS $5.50)

Button in this case is a total maniac, VPIP 65%, PFR 55%! He had built his stack by sucking out a few times with total trash against big hands.

How good a hand do you need to call here? Would you wait for TT-AA or AK?

    Button (t4380)
    SB (t4640)
    Hero (t4480)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, 9.
Button raises to t4380, 1 fold, Hero ?????

    3-handed, I think A9s is a call here.

    Sorry, but whats VPIP?

Wish there was a listing of these acronyms.

Voluntarily put chips in pot, a measure of tightness or looseness. It's the % of possible times a player called or raised (ie. other than folded or checked the BB).

Maybe he was raising every hand, but was he going all-in every hand? If yes, then of course call, but if someone does something completely different than what he's been doing I wouldn't call with this marginal hand.

His strategy was a mixture of (a) all in preflop (b) call preflop then all in on flop and (c) raise 4x BB, roughly evenly divided between all three with no discernable pattern according to hand strength.

I wonder whether he was using some sort of fucked up Kill Phil strategy.
