    Default Renton VS Murdoc

    RENTON vs MURDOC

It's a BankRoll race to $9,950. Both have $2,500 ish now, and are commited to seeing this through.

I'm taking sidebets in this thread.
The maximum wager I'll accept is $5.
    $5 wins/loses $5. I'm not handicapping this thing.
    I'll accept side-bets until April 1.
    Bets go through PokerStars.

    Begin.....

I fully expect Renton and Murdoc to be placing the first side bets...I don't care that they have $50 already involved.

Bet on youselves to start, and get you closest friends to back you up in this thread.

I'm waiting for the first $5 sidebets!!!!!!!!!!!!

Supporters of Renton and Murdoc, please step up!

I honestly believe that I will win.

There are two reasons why I wouldn't win.

    1.) I bust out
    2.) I die

Otherwise I'm winning. Nothing against Renton, just stating the facts.

The only thing that might keep me from winning this is the amount of time I have to play. I have a full-time job and part-time school to contend with, so I can only put in around 20 hours/week.

Ok, so I totally forgot to mark this thread as one I was supposed to be watching, and then all hell broke loose with awesome B2B bonuses, and Boon moved Renton's thread...and whoop! it was gone.

    Ok, I'm back in action.

I have offered to accept all wagers up to $5 on either Renton or Murdoc. I am not accepting $20 wagers on how long it takes to finish, 'Rilla, so that's on your own.

    So lets get started.

If you want to make a side-bet, you need to post who it's for and transfer your $5 to EasyT109 at PokerStars. I am not going to skip town with all your $5 bets (ask around if you think I'm shady). And I'm not trying to make money off this adventure, either.

The point is for both Renton and Murdoc have "backers" who are rooting for them. If it gets lopsided and the majority of bets turn out to be on the loser, I will spend the difference on a hat or thong or whatever FTR gear the winner wants. I'm not keeping a dime. If I lose money, it's out of my pocket.

But I want some bets. Those of us that are more experienced and now have a whopping $5 at stake can "promote their horse" by giving one-sided advice in PM. Get it?

    Now....Side-Bets please.

DJ, your side-bet is received and marked.

My money is on whoever gets eeeee to put down $5 on him first, since it was made clear that Casino whoring's gonna count. M2C.

    Alright, I'm bumping this thread.

Let's get a current $ figure from each of Renton and Murdoc.

Then let's have some more side-bet action on this. Come on, fellas. Pick your steed and root for him to win!

I will post a figure later today. I am probably way behind, as I have hit a ridiculous downswing/bad play in my attempted transition to 100$ stakes. I don't have the figures currently infront of me.

    K, thanks.

Didn't you just move to 6-max? Bad idea to keep switching your game. You're going to hit a downswing every time you switch, so switch infrequently and by schedule. m2c.

    EasyT

PS. Murdoc clearly said Casino-whoring is included (striaght up bankroll race), and yet neither of you have solicited eeeee for advice that I know of. I still believe that whoever gets eeeee to place a $5 wager on this is going to jump ahead....

Regardless of my read I would not act on it in this situation almost ever. What range would your opponent raise with pre flop? Is he really dumb enough to risk a $300 bluff for a $38 pot withoutout a PP here?

I love to overbet these kind of boards with the nuts, especially when its deep stacks.

villain was 55/33, he always bet superstrong when he was weak, and he always bet superweak when he was strong. I had been watching him for over an hour, seen how he plays AA, AK, and most importantly a total bluff. He actually had far more in 66 than I figured he had.

In other words, he was both a maniac and a bad player. I had picked off a couple of bluffs earlier from him (called him down for half my stack with TPNK).

I think even given that read, this was a somewhat marginal call. I probably beat 60% or so of villains range. I figured 60% was an edge so I took it. I tanked for a while to make this call.

Im reminded of a thread in HSNL on 2+2 where a player lays down the 3rd nuts for no other reason than the pot was so small and the overbet so enormous. There will be other opportunities for you to make that money so you really dont have to risk so much.

I think you're losing money with that call.

15k hands at 8ptBB/100 equals $2400. Did you start playing 100NL with a $600 bankroll? Did you cash out? Or perhaps you have played more than 15k hands at 100NL?

No, i ran real bad to start with other games and formats and just spinned my wheels alot. If it weren't for that stuff, yes I would be up 2.4k.

Put it up buddy. To place a side bet, transfer your $5 to EasyT109 at PokerStars.

I can't believe that more folks have not made sidebets on this action! It's all good fun! :P

My brother has an account on Pokerstars. I'll get him to send some money your way. I'm not sure it's a good idea betting on a dood that's kicking my ass already. Isn't that a conflict of interests or something?

i just wanted to post in this thread to say congrats to Renton on his current progress.
Your climb up the ladder has been very quick and from what ive seen you a very competent player so good luck sir.

I dont know what plans you have in mind for how you will progess as a player but i hope your rather quick upwards climb continues as you break cash games.

nh sir, long may it continue

    Congrats Renton,

I’m curious to know, how long you have been playing poker? I noticed we joined the FTR around the same time and here you are with 10K. What books have you been reading? How about doing a small strategy guide to building a huge BR in less than 90days?

    Congrats again,

Awesome job man, sorry I couldn't have congratulated you sooner.

Once I have the email address associated with your neteller account I will transfer the $50 as promised.

I have been playing since like last November. I have only been a winning player since January. (Hmm the month I joined FTR. Coincidence? I don't know.)

I read a lot of books. HOH/HOH2, SS, SSH, TOP, HFAP, Hellmuths crappy book, Cloutier's crappy book, and Greenstein's decent book.

I don't know what to put in a guide. Just whore the easy to whore sites, play a solid repeatable game, and play as many tables as you can, and move up whenever you are rolled.

What’s you opinion on HOH and HOH2? How well did these books translate to a ring game for you?

They translated very well. Ironically, once I read these two books, my ring game took off and my tourney game began to suffer.

Is Murdoc still a forum member? I PMed him re his offer of High-Stakes dvd's... inbox said "user does not exist".

    Anyone know what's up?

BTW If anyone else has copies of High Stakes poker I'd be really interested.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?
