    Default Tonights Session's All In's

    Hi Everyone,
I've been posting on this forum for 2 days now and I have always given the advice of aggressive play. I want to back up my statements with some hand histories from one of tonight's sessions. If you have another take on a better way to play the hand I would welcome the feed back.

    First Hand:

I have been at this table for about 15 mins. I have a read on MP3, however, I don't have one on the SB because it is his second hand.

    Poker Room skin
    No Limit Holdem Ring game
    Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
    9 players
    Converter

    Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is Button with J Q
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, MP3 calls, CO folds, Hero calls, SB calls, BB checks.

I choose to call here because I don't value QJ very much in a large pot. I can completely miss the pot or have a A or K fall either with or without a Q or J.

    Flop: A 3 6 ($3, 6 players)
SB bets $0.5, 3 folds, MP3 raises to $2, Hero calls, SB calls.

While I am only getting 2.7/1 pot odds, my read on MP3 is that even if I hit my flush he will pay a small bet off to ensure I am not bluffing him. So I have implied odds to make this call.

    Turn: 9 ($9, 3 players)
SB checks, MP3 checks, Hero bets $6, SB raises to $12, MP3 folds, Hero raises all-in $40.25, SB calls all-in $28.9.

Jackpot! I hit my flush and since it's checked to me I bet it out. Now the shocker the SB check raises me. I think about it for a minute. One, there is only one card that can beat me and that is the K. Also, I take his bet into account, it's a little girly raise. So, I push all in. He calls.

    River: 8 ($61.25, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $89.5)

    SB 4 2
    Hero Q J

    Second Hand:

    Poker Room skin
    No Limit Holdem Ring game
    Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
    8 players
    Converter

    Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is SB with K K
UTG raises to $2, 5 folds, Hero raises to $6, BB folds, UTG raises to $10, Hero raises all-in $87.65, UTG calls all-in $27.80.

OK here, I have Kings, the second best starting hand, only beatable by Aces. It's raised 4xBB by UTG. I reraise him. He then reraises me. And now here is where I think a lot of the forum posters would quit, or call, or something. But again look at his bet. Different player but same bet: A little girly raise, not even double my bet this time. I always advocate getting the money into the pot. If he has aces, Happy Birthday UTG. He obviously wants to play his hand, so I push all in. With out a second to spare he calls.

    Flop: J J 6 ($131, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $131)

    Turn: J ($131, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $131)

    River: 3 ($131, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $131)

    UTG = QQ
    Me = KK

    First hand is okay.

Second hand, you're lucky he called.

This is the main point of my post. Most players would call, or make a little raise and toy with people. These fish will call when you push all in. No need to get fancy. Sometimes they don't, I agree, but a lot of the time they do and because of this factor you will make a lot more money.

I see people calling all in bets preflop with KQ, TT, once even saw it with JT.

    First hand is fine. Standard.

Second hand, the only way I make that play is if I have a strong read that they will call. Otherwise, I'll take a flop and play poker.

You don't run into fish that will call this that often.

Very nice. You went with your reads to adapt your play, and played em out nicely. One thing though:

Well, it worked out nicely here.. but do you really think it's such a good idea to, in effect, downplay such a nice hand? Now the whole table gets a chance to see their low-chance uber hand on the flop. Personally I'd always raise this one. Atleast weed out the total crap that might get lucky.

My personal opinion is that it's not a nice hand. I know some people like it and think it's, as you say, a "nice" hand. But in my experience, I either win small pots with it when I pair, or lose big pots with it when I pair. I think the only thing it really has going is the str8 and flush potential.

    *yawn*

For what it's worth, the less I'm all-in, the better off I am.

Hand #2 is fine due to opps stack. He is putting 1/4 of his stack in preflop on a rereraise. I push this too. I want to see 5 cards in case an A hits the flop.

If you meet a player who realises you respond to 'little girly bets' by going all in you could get burnt. NH's tho.
