Default Just want to give up ... AA cracked again

Thought I was playing this one pretty well. 1/2 pot bet on the flop ... pot sized bet on the turn ... and then ...

This was the third hand for me at this 50NL table. Given the Villain's call, I put him on KK - JJ or AK or maybe AQ. Anyways, I thought I played this one ok.

Question: Other than the river call (which was a tilt-in-the-making decision), how could I have played this differently?

Seat 1: fat pizza ($44 in chips)
Seat 2: FourHiAndFly ($48.50 in chips)
Seat 3: BadBoyLeroy ($66.80 in chips)
Seat 4: Hero [ As Ad ] ($49.50 in chips)
    Seat 5: SmartPic1 ($45 in chips)
    Seat 6: heap123 ($71.20 in chips)
    Seat 7: notsosure1 ($36.40 in chips)
    Seat 8: danza92 ($72.10 in chips)
Seat 9: Villain ($46.55 in chips)
    Seat 10: NxT09024 ($24.50 in chips)

    ANTES/BLINDS
Villain posts blind ($0.25), NxT09024 posts blind ($0.50).

    PRE-FLOP
fat pizza calls $0.50, FourHiAndFly folds, BadBoyLeroy folds, Hero bets $2, SmartPic1 folds, heap123 folds, notsosure1 folds, danza92 folds, Villain calls $1.75, NxT09024 folds, fat pizza folds.

    FLOP [board cards 3H,5D,2C ]
Villain checks, Hero bets $2.50, Villain calls $2.50.

    TURN [board cards 3H,5D,2C,7S ]
Villain checks, Hero bets $10, Villain bets $20, Hero calls $10.

    RIVER [board cards 3H,5D,2C,7S,KH ]
Villain bets $22.05 and is all-in, Hero calls $22.05.

Why would you only put him on KK-JJ, AK, AQ?

Primarily because he called the PFR. As the hand progressed, I didn't think he has SCs or the like. At least that was my thinking.

Why couldn't he have 22,33,55, or 77? Many will call a pfr w/ stuff like 64s and 75s too. Maybe you had a read, but I don't think you should just assume those hands only.

its pretty obvious you are beat when you get check raised on the turn on a board of 3H,5D,2C,7S...he could have 23s, 35s, 46s, 57s, 33,55,22,77. theres really nothing here you can beat except for an overzealous overpair or pair w/ a draw, but neither of those make sense w/ his line. you bet the turn too hard, thats not the type of board you want to be in a huge pot with one pair.

    Your flop bet was weak.

flattin ur 4bets, makin u tilt
JJ-KK, AK-AQ is the most retarded hand range ever
small PPs and suited connectors are like 20X more likely after flop and turn action
My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

That's a horrid flop for AA. You raised 4BB, very possible to get called by pp (that hit), suited connector/gapper or "any two" really. A check/raise there means you are dead most of the time. It's not easy to lay down aces on such a shitty board, but you have to toss it.

Flop : Why bet 1/2 pot? If he is on an open ended straight draw and has hit a pair (45s?) then he has pot odds to call.

Turn : Check raise is very nasty. Looks like he has hit his draw, or was slow playing a straight. Could have been slow playing a set or hit a set but seems less likely (if he is good enough to check-raise). Either way, calling the raise is pot-commiting you, which means you are going all in on top-pair. I would lay down the AA at this stage.

Suited connectors are very likely. KK-JJ would be way more agressive on the flop and most times preflop. This would feel like a set to me. Without some kind of laser-guided read you do not want to be going all-in with just a pair.

Many thanks to all. Your comments will certainly impact my play going forward. I agree, in retrospect, the flop bet was poor and insufficient, I did think about a possible str8 or trips but ignored the warning signs from the reraise on the turn and calling the allin on the river was just a donk move.

All in all, very poorly played and I will use the lesson in the future.

I bet the flop much more... very ugly cards for you there. In case he's drawing, I take away his odds with a 3/4 to 1x pot bet.

    You = A A
    1/2 pot CBET Called= Caution
    CR= YOU FOLD

You have no redraw to what he is claiming is the nuts except a 4 and in this case he has the higher straight possibly. Fold the turn, getem in next time.
