    Default Turn Play.

Need help on these hands. My turn play is either horrible or Iam being to cautious. Or am I just over reacting? Thoughts-

Do i need to grab a hold down there and figure out WTF, or am I being cautious like I should?

Here is my play with balls...

Hand 3: Ouch. Where do I start?
If you REALLY think he has AdXx then why not just CALL his bet on the river instead of raising?

I would have bet this flop, and bet it once again on the turn.

**You have 3 limpers infront of you and only raise to 1.25.
I recall in another post that you bet 1.25 with TWO limpers. Pump it up a little more preflop.

How do you decide how much to preflop raise?
When I used to play TAG on ring games I would raise 1+.25 for each limper... so I guess that would have been 1.75 preflop for me.

Hand 2 shows why calling raisers out of position sucks even when you hit your draw.

I misplayed that river you are CORRECT. Hand 3 I would rather eat goat nuts in oatmeal than talk about.

I only raise with a short list of hands. Its my own hand selection. I raise 5 X the BB. Are you saying maybe I should put some more PF aggression into my hands like Q K, AJ, AK, AQ, AA, KK , QQ?????????

Maybe you should be raising MORE preflop BECAUSE you raise with a short list of hands.
    I believe some people raise 0.75 + .25x [where x = limpers]
    or 1 + 0.25X [where x = limpers] in the 25nl games.

When you only raise $1 on top, and the first person calls, it gives the next person greater odds to call, etc.

Ah well.. it's been a long time since I've played this way ... but try pumping it up more preflop when you get callers infront.

I beleive you. I use that style for tourny play... So I agree. But ring is weird, I get no players in the hand. anything over a buck fifty - people pack up shop.

Yeah, they don't like to suck out when it's more expensive.

    Fine by me =)

Hand 1: Calling the turn is fine too, depends on the other guy. You're pot-struck anyway, so figure out what gets his money into the pot.
Hand 2: When you hit on the scare card you have to bet it, otherwise you'll only get action from better hand or really aggro players.
Hand 3: I think I gamble it up on the turn. Raising the river is really silly, you got to see a showdown here.

Hand 2: Definately bet this turn. I prob even bet this flop depending on what i think he has

Hand 3: definately raise this turn. Anything wrong with betting the flop Fnord?

Misread hand, didn't see all 3 diamonds on the flop. Yeah, I think I just get all of the money in there. I might even do something silly like push all-in on the flop.

All and All is it safe to say I am playing too cautious? Iam aggressive as I can be when Iam way out in front.. Its mediocre kinda hands like those where Iam like .. well.... umm.... huh... I second guess myself. Once again either Iam giving my opponents too much credit at this level or Iam being too passive.
  11. #11
Yeah, I think this may be a bit too passive/cautious...First hand I like; your opps name sounds familiar as well and if it's the same guy I've played against you probably got payed of nicely there?

I know what you mean about second guessing yourself, i had (and to an extent still have) a very similar problem, but lately I have been working on my aggression/LAG play/aggressive hand reading and it seems to be the way to go as you move up past 50NL...

Hand 1: Fine, although just calling is maybe better. You'll have to make sure all of his money gets in the pot. Giving an A/K to AK makes that more likely.

Hand 2: Usually fold preflop, drawing hand OOP HU sucks. Calling flop is fine, I like c/r better though. Bet turn!

Hand 3: Raise pf more (depends on table, but getting 4 callers is ridiculous), bet flop, bet half pot turn, just call river.

To summarize: Turn up the aggression!
