why did you check the flop?

i played lots and lots of pots today with Bluffsalot83, and i was willing to let a scary card hit for a better chance of stacking him.

i put him on overcards because right before this hand happened. i did a squeeze play on him on another table and he typed in chat 'squeeze...?' so when i saw him reraise preflop here, i was sure he was more likely to be making a play. if this hadnt happened i would be much much much more likely to bet the flop.

i was playing 10/20 full ring.


i moved back down because its easy to win alot of money in this game. my winrate 9 tabling 3/6 6m is same as 9 tabling 10/20 fr, just with less money lost on the swings.

I'm guessing you had a read? Normally when I try and make a play and get 2 callers, I give up unless I flop big. What about raising the turn? Clearly you are repping the backdoor flush right?

What the hell is your problem?! Gabe is cool, he says things the way they are without too much unneccessary words. And I can really find myself in his playstyle - atleast the principles on which it works, as I play lower stakes now - and posts like these have had a positive influence on my game. There aren't too many people advocating or explaining or demonstrating how a Lagg game is played, so these posts are great for me. If you don't like em, why don't you just stay away instead?

Another thing, if you check his other post, it is filled with HHs of things going bad too. Quite a relevation to read those. So just because he was running hot now and it seems to mostly have worked, is no reason that it is bragging or anything.

i try to only play in pots where i can raise preflop, besides the times where i call with pairs or connectors when lots of people are calling a raise.

i raise stuff like KTs and A9s utg, but i really wont play them offsuit until the cutoff. i might play 86s in MP by raising it if the limper in front of me is bad and i want to isolate him.

i fold alot in the blinds unless there are a few people in. like if someone raises on the button, ill fold A9s, KTs, 87s, stuff like that (sometimes i reraise, but i like to do the reraising with not so good hands in position). the blinds are probably where you are playing too many hands.

It's really hard for you to have the flush here. Jc is on the board. If you had Ac in your hand, you almost surely betting this flop. That basically leaves KcQc, or suited connected junk, neither of which I think is likely you are 3-betting a UTG raiser with.

Or you could be repping a slowplay of JJJ/AAA.

Or maybe the guy just didn't have a hand that could withstand any pressure. Or maybe he doesn't try putting people on hands.

on the first hand i think a check raise isn't so good. i think the hands that they bet there are heavily weighted towards a missed flushdraw and QJ KQ. i dont think i could get much value from a c/r.

i didn't raise the turn on the 2nd hand because of the short stack behind me. if i raise, he calls, and the better folds i look like an idiot and lose money. his riverbet didnt make me think he had the flush (and we were really deep so relatively, that raise was alot of money).

r8ed.. basically what gabe is saying is there is such an enormous difference between raising in position and calling a raise out of position. So huge.

edit: also applies to reraising in position vs out of position, but to a lesser extent because the more money goes in pf, the more the positional advantage is negated. It's still very important though.
