Default Is that a quad sir?

My read on Vilian is that he was respectable. He had been at the table a while and wasn't losing small portions of his stack along the way like so many others do.

Hand #301071225 at table: Table TH 809
    Started: Tue May 16 18:41:31 2006

    Button: Fold

Turn (Board: Jd, Jh, 7d, Kd)($24 Pot):<--Haha, I sucked out.

    Hero: Bet 15.00

River (Board: Jd, Jh, 7d, Kd, Jc)($54 Pot):<--!!!!Oh shit. Does he really have a jack or was he calling with something else...?

My main question here is if you go with your initial read that he has a J and fold to any significant bet. Your move? check or bet?

You noticed the diamonds, right? That's got to be a big possibility considering his smooth calling. What J hands is the villain likely to be playing here? AJ? JQ? JT? With your read on him, are any of these likely or unlikely? I personally might fold any of these to a raise (but I am a tight weak nit).

I think you have to block/value bet the river. If he pushes, you might fold.

Would he not of raised a Jack at some point, I'm thinking probably the turn? Or perhaps he was very passive; in which case QQ and even AA may be in his range. There are two diamonds out there so the flush draw is a possability....

I'd of bet more on the turn (pot sized) to hopefully make him push or fold but as is if I had a really strong read I might check and call a reasonable bet fold to a push on the river.....

Sounds kind of gay to be scared of 1 card tho, will be interested to see what others think.

Block bet. If he pushes over it, he probably has the J. Basically then it comes down to your read on how the guy plays. However, it might not even be an issue, he might just call/fold.

Flush draw's a possibility. So's 77 for a flopped full house, and solid reason to slow play it.

QQ, TT, 77 are also very good possiblities here. I pay a J off (pardon the pun) all day long here. I think AA would have raised at some point.

Would a block bet really be needed on the river, if he just called down his J (if thats what he has) all the way through he doesn't strike me as someone who will push river. He has about $70 behind and a $55 pot, I sense he would prob bet around $30.

Yeah, I saw the flush but forgot to mention it when I posted. That combined with the remote possibility of AA, Kx, 77, QT (straight draw) caused me to push which I really think was the worst choice.
If he has QT he isn’t calling and the flush probably isn’t calling. If he has AA, KK he will call (77 may call) and of course any J will call.

If I check, and he pushes can I really be sure he has the J and not Kx? Aw well, just one of those things. I am not sure I can get away from this.

    Results:
    Hero: Bet 78.00
    Vilian: All in

    Showdown:

Hero shows: Kh, Ks (full house)
Vilian shows: Qs, Js (four of a kind, Jacks)

    Mainpot:
Vilian wins the pot of 196.70 with four of a kind, Jacks
    Stakes: Playing $0.10/$0.25 NL

I have an idea. Don't fear quads when you have KKKJJ. Put your entire stack in the middle and ship it.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
