I've gotten in over 70k hands at the 2/4 game on stars though where I have a really modest winrate. I read on 2p2 where somebody said the 2/4 game on stars compares to the 5/10 game on party. And that the 2/4 game on stars 'was the nittiest 2/4 game on the net'. I think my game selection sucks, by the way, and I'm thinking about starting up on party.

ZOMG! People pay off stacks with Top Pair! ...and I'm talking regular players with a full buy-in! I'd forgotten what that was like since I moved my action out of Bodog.

There are a lot of half-buys too that are also very +EV as I really play my best at around 25-50ish bets.

...besides, it's SO easy to get Renton to play for stacks. *wink*

honestly I can't remember the last time I destacked a full-stacked regular when he only had top pair. Seriously.

You'll have to get used to getting so much action again. I had to stop making some PokerStars value-bluffs because the Party folks just won't fold. Much better game for fast-play junkies like me.

anyway Fnord, I want to ask you something. It's generally accepted that what you are saying is true, that the party ring games are generally on the softer side and the stars games are usually the toughest.

Do you have any explanation for why? It's honestly something I've thought about and really can't come up with anything that makes a whole lot of sense.

Also, stars players seem to do especially well in the WSOP events (looking even deeper then who won the last 3 main events). Think there's any coorelation?

Party is better at bringing in gamblers with money.

Stars is better at retaining people who take poker seriously. I railed 1123 today and saw him ruthlessly butcher the table whenever a bubble hit.

A few weeks ago the $100 and $200 games at Party really weren't that good at all IMO. I think just since lots of schools let out it's getting really fishy and I'm just hoping it lasts way past late August.

well to be honest, I really do like stars. The software and support are both excellent, and I guess I just have this comfort zone on that site. I've played over 200k hands on stars and only about 3k on party. Other then that, I started my poker career 1-tabling pacific and I've played probably a few thousand hands on BOS. So the vast, vast majority of time I've played has been on stars.

fwiw I agree with both of you in that I should move somewhere else where the games are softer, but as a concelation, at least it will help my game in the future. There's nothing like sitting at a table full of regulars...

from what ive seen your game is more than good enough to be playing bigger stakes at better sites imo.

I've heard the same thing, although I haven't experienced it myself. I'm highly considering moving to party since it seems to be a much easier game. Granted, playing on stars probably improves your game a lot more, but where do we draw the line with improving skill, and making money?
