KK in the BB (NL200)

Default KK in the BB (NL200)

Opponent in this hand seems decent but is nothing special. He definitely has some money behind him (235+ bbs) after hitting a big hand against an idiot. He's probably getting annoyed by me because I keep raising him when he limps from the SB. In a heads-up pot I will raise any two, or any decent cards and fire out a c-bet on the flop. I'd say through 120 hands or so I've raised him six times before this (he's folded every single time), and he's only come in for a raise of his own one time (when we've been heads-up).

I actually pick up a really solid hand this time and raise again. I c-bet it but he comes over the top of me. Seems like pretty standard stuff to me, flat calling his re-raise and then jacking it up on the turn....especially with how I've been pounding on him...is this something I want to take all the way?

During the hand I couldn't put him on anything but AQ or a set. No real draws out there, I can't see him playing 69 in this spot against me, pounding so hard with a draw...If he has 78 I guess I pay him. Good/bad/ugly?

    CO ($226.65)
    Button ($261.30)
    SB ($474.66)
    Hero ($245.95)

    UTG ($217.50)
    MP ($213.55)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K, K. SB posts a blind of $1.
4 folds, SB (poster) completes, Hero raises to $6, SB calls $6.

    Flop: ($16) 7, Q, 8 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $12, SB raises to $34, Hero calls $22.

    Turn: ($84) 5 (2 players)
SB bets $49.85, Hero raises to $125, SB calls $75.15.

    River: ($334) T (2 players)
    SB bets $84.48, Hero calls $78.95 (All-In).

    Final Pot: $497.43

You should only be worried about a set, and I think you played this hand very well. He probably turned over qj and cried about you luckboxing KK? Heads up you just have to payoff a set, or try to minimize risk by keeping the pot a bit smaller. But I think as played it's fine. Most ppl at these stakes slowplay their sets or two pair especially heads up, which makes me think you're ahead here in a big way.

if you think he's frustrated it's a good time for a 3bet shove. he'll call w/ worse hands more often when frustrated. if he has AA or set, well congrats to him it was the moment he was waiting for forever while you were busy picking up pots to pay for the experience. i think the description of your setup to the hand is really important if that is your read. he's likely to to Check/minraise like that w/ any smaller PP as well, in deparation, to try and win a pot. you might trick him into making a bad call now, but it would be more difficult if another overcard/scare card comes to kill action.
In answer to your question... it depends...

Seems fine. I'd probably just move in on the turn.

I'm shoving the turn here too, everything seems standard.

    fold preflop (yes, it's allowed).

    'X' out of party poker.

Call up your mom like you were doing when I tried calling you earlier, and cry to her about why this guy called your preflop raise with Q8o and proceeded to stack your ass in a blind war.

I'd probably push the turn here thinking I'm usually good.

For the results oriented he flipped over AQo and MHIG.

I still don't get why pushing the turn is my best line here. I have a hard time seeing someone with a set playing it this fast at this level, especially my opponent in this hand...If I throw down a $210 bet he may fold (he'd have to call off $150 more). Yeah, he may call it too (he was frustrated with me I'm sure).......I dunno, why is pushing the turn optimal?

EDIT: Am I pushing the turn because I'm calling off my stack on the river no matter what card hits anyway, so might as well get it in while I'm still probably ahead?

GeoWal21 (5:01:30 AM): why is pushing turn optimal in my hand
LuKie StyLe 3 (5:02:52 AM): b/c the board is starting to get nasty, and a lot of cards kill your hand or your action
LuKie StyLe 3 (5:03:01 AM): if the board was dryer
LuKie StyLe 3 (5:03:07 AM): i'd be more inclined to use position and just call
    GeoWal21 (5:03:14 AM): yeah
    GeoWal21 (5:03:15 AM): but
    GeoWal21 (5:03:21 AM): raising to $215
GeoWal21 (5:03:25 AM): when he only bet $50
GeoWal21 (5:03:54 AM): I guess I take it down and don't double up that way, but I *for sure* win.....I dunno, I got a shit-ton in the middle, and was going to call off no matter what river card hit I guess
LuKie StyLe 3 (5:04:04 AM): so what if ur raising to 215
GeoWal21 (5:04:26 AM): dude is going to call off $165 more>?
LuKie StyLe 3 (5:04:31 AM): would be 185 in the pot after a call, so it's like a 160 raise
GeoWal21 (5:04:36 AM): I mean, I guess he called and then pushed river
LuKie StyLe 3 (5:04:54 AM): if he's terrible enough to be fooled into thinking your turn raise is isn't an allin
LuKie StyLe 3 (5:05:02 AM): and he's more likely to call it in 2 speerate bets
LuKie StyLe 3 (5:05:07 AM): i guess u could do what u did

That's kind of what I was thinking. It just seemed, to me, if I pushed $215 more (he'd have to call $165 or so) that he might fold......maybe, maybe not, but either way I was committing myself. If an ace hits I shit my pants and hand my money over, but I was willing to take that plunge. WEEEEEEE!

if you raise the turn you arent folding the river. Either put it all in or just raise the push the rivr regardless of the card.
