    Default Limping with QQ shorthanded

    Hi, new to the board.

I was recently in a NL hold 'em tournament. Here's was the situation

    1) There were three players including me left
    2) All of us we're tight aggressive in our style of play with lots of experience
    3) I was chip leader by a small to moderate margin - 6,000 chips approx

    The Play

    I was in 2nd position
    blinds 75/150
    No flop yet
1st position folds making me heads up with BB
    I have pocket queens
I limp instead of raise hoping to induce a raise
    BB raises
I re-raise and BB goes all in
    I call - roughly 3,200 total
    BB flips over A10 offsuit.
    Flop comes, still leading
    turn is an Ace
    River is a blank
I lose over half my stack.

Did I make a mistake going for the kill? or should I have sat back collected the blinds (he likely would of folded if I would of raised instead of limped) and let the two shorter stacks beat on each other? I'd like some experienced opinions.

    Thanks

    CM

Thanks for the input. I've gone over it in my head over and over. Sucks too because it was a WSOP satellite on Poker Stars and If I would of busted the guy I'd of had a 4 to 1 chip advantage heads up.

    Anyone have another opinion??

What was your image? If I had been stealing a lot I would definitely raise here preflop instead of limping. Also depends on how the bb reacts to sb limps, etc etc. I don't find anything wrong with your play and you got it in with the best of it. Poker isn't very fun eh.

I was running the table with my stack. I had a very tough image. I couldn't get the two guys to play back at me when I had led off previously. I am 95% sure I would of chased the guy out of the BB if I would of raised.

Poker can be a cruel biatch that's for sure.

I would prefer to get AI with his stack and qq vs ATo than just steal the 1.5bbs preflop ANYDAY!
    Experimenting - 200NL 5max.

You played it fine. Can't do more than get it in there with the best of it!

I'll take QQ vs. AT for stacks everytime. He shit his pants when the cards were turned over. He just got lucky. Lucky shit happens.

All the money went in when you were the 70% favorite.. what more can you want? You trapped him, it worked, he got lucky. Meh.

    Ouch! My 2 cents...

You played it right for most cases. You just got beat. If he's willing to call a re-raise all in with A10 I would play this guy all day long. 7-10 times you win this hand. Just a tuff break.

This could keep this thread alive for a little longer

I'm not a big fan of pushing all in pre-flop with QQ vs. AT because they might hit the Ace.

Raising or limping here solely depends on your table image. If you are raising a lot and being the aggressor postflop, I suggest limping... because QQ is huge.

    say wha?
