Whats different in higher stakes tourneys?

Hi, my question today: I have played 11$ MTT's so far but qualified for the 215$ Partypoker million next sunday. At 11$ I am definately an above average player and profited a lot in the past from poeple who don't know what a kicker is etc. I am sure this won't be the case at this level.

So: How do I adjust my game?

I play tight at the beginning of a tourney, but play most pp's (lower ones for set value) and Axs (for flush value) and sometimes middle suited connectors from late positition in an unraraised pot. With a great hand i always raise (AQ+, JJ+), when in position, i lower my raising standards. Later in the tournament I will try to steal the blinds when in position, even holding a mediocre hand.

Last but not least I play aggressive and will occasionally checkraise etc. to gain respect at the table so I wont be bullied around.


Anything to add at 200$? I figure I will play against poeple with a lot more experience with professional players among them. Whats my most promising strategy?

I don't think this is a rebuy/add on tourney and besides: I won the entry, not the money, so I don't have the choice to cash out the 200$.

I would be glad if you could try to give an advice for me anyways, even if it might not be easy to give one that is helpful without being to general...


I 've been playing 11$ NL Tourneys with some success, so how do I adjust to play 5 levels higher?

The stacks will be a little deeper than you're used too. But most of the people in the big Sundays won sats just like you did. I would just play your game. There are no specific adjustments you can make to a $$ level.

Thank you guys: My first big tournament and i got ITM ( I was even hoping to get further till my QQ got smashed by KK). But 500$ is a good ROI for a 7$ investment...
