Default 20k hands of 100NL 5-max. Please rate my stats.

So, I've played 20k hands at 5-max. ( NL($1) is all 5-max) This is my first real attempt at shorthanded, so basicly I have no idea how to play I've just been trying to find my style and get a feel for it. Anyway, things are going good (6ptbb/100) but I don't know if

    1. I'm running good
    2. My style is great
    3. It works but could be a lot better
    etc etc.

As you can see I play 18.5/14. Kinda odd as far as I know. I just raise a lot? I don't know if some of the outrageous payoffs I get is because I raise a lot or if they would have payed me anyway. Guess I could limp more but I don't really know why. Another thing I noticed is that my W$SD from seat 2 is kinda low. Dunno why.

I'm thinking of moving up soon when my BR allows it, but will I hold my ground or does this only work with good table selection and juicy tables full of idiots?

So, here it is. Any thoughts appreciated!

PS, is 20k hands too little?

you could put a bit more in from the sb where possible, other than that you own.

I have almost exactly the same stats lately.. And I've ran 6 ptbb/100 at 200nl so move up and make some more money sir.

Miffed: what are optimal SB stats? I'm 21/10 (7 FRI).

i like the fact that you're the mainly the aggressor, raising in at least 3/4 of the pots you're playing. this is very important in shorthanded play. when the ratio of VPIP:PFR slips below 2:1 you start to notice it in results (i.e. BB/100 stats). i like the VPIP: PFR ratio to be at least 3:2, those stats seem to produce more desirable results IMO.
In answer to your question... it depends...

Fnord posted them somewhere, i cant remember what they were exactly.
I simply think to myself that if the sb is a cheap place to get in, then i want to be seeing slightly more flops than my normal vpip with more marginal, optimistic holdings that know where they are post flop if i can.
So while i wouldnt dream of playing Kxs Qxs Jxs from UTG HJ positions without holding two cards nine or higher, in the small blind completing with J2s Q5s etc is acceptable, or at least so i think.
So if you play a fairly good 19/10 type game i like to think you see something like 22% flops.

I have no math on it, ill have a look if i get chance.

Sandstorm, this looks fine, seems like this style works very good for you. How many tables are you playing? I play a 20/13 style with 4 tables, planning to move up to 6 as soon as I get a new monitor

I'm currently 4-tabling on a 20" monitor, so no overlap. Could add a table or two soon I guess but it's still a little stressful at times, and I only got this monitor.

Who cares? Keep playing and winning.. if there are problems they will show themselves. If not, you'll make more $$.

    Btw I'd consider moving up.

Yeah, but there are always things to work on. Hopefully I'll move up soon, just padding my BR some more first.

sandstorm - may I ask what size cbet you are throwing out each time? BTW, your stats look good, but I like that you are continually looking for improvements.
  14. #14
i usually start with 4, then add 1 for each limper before me. then my c-bets depends a little on the board and opponents and hand, but most of the time 2/3 pot.

OK, same here. I just cbet less often and I think I need to do it more often. Another question - how often do you reraise preflop and what range are you reraising? I think my range might be too tight.
  16. #16
i play slightly lower stakes, but I have personally started reraising (on occassion) anything from 44+, two big cards (suited or not), and the occassional connected cards (again suited or not). i have found that its not really about your cards in these situations because as long as you are reraising the right player, the reraise gets so much respect that they are rarely in past the flop unless they hit hard. My favourite lately has been to reraise button steals from the SB. i know i am oop, but this way i get to lead the flop and dont have to worry about raising a flop bet from my opp.
i still dont think that i reraise enough, but i am working on it

i reraise when i have a similar range to my opponent and position.
when he hits ive hit too and he has to play the big pot oop hoping i didnt flop a real nut hand (eg he ahs AQ and caught the case ace on Axx) so reraising includes AK/AQ perhaps even AJs at times as well as 99+ at times too and junk for table image.

Waaay too little. That's one of the things I try to figure out, who to raise with what, and when etc. My range is really narrow I guess. I think it should be very situational but I haven't figured out what situations to do it in really
