    Default Cutting off pot odds

Ok, let's take a typical flop situation, you've got tptk, 2 suited on the board, you want to chase flush draws.. When I'm in this situation, I've always bet half the pot. If they call and no third suited card comes, I once again bet half the pot on the turn. My reasoning behind this is that they're getting about 5-1 to make it on the turn and then 5-1 again to make it on the river, so by giving them 3-1 each time, I'm making them make incorrect plays if they call. Am I wrong? Note that this is ring games only. I blitzkrieg flush draws in tourneys.

I usually like to bet the pot in these situations. Just because you need to eliminate chasers, and those who you don't eliminate need to be making a big mistake by chasing. If you just barely cut off the odds, especially in NL, the implied odds will usually pay them off.

Often with small bets i'll "chase" draws for one card if it wont cost me much. Even if i'm not getting the pots odds, if i hit i may be able to take alot of money from the person.

Sounds all well and good, but when a fish wants his flush he will chase it no matter how bad the odds.
-It seemed like a good idea at the time-

Thank god for that. I have bills to pay.

On implied odds: you can take these away, too -- if you check/fold on the appearance of any flush card. Most people don't/shouldn't behave this weakly. If you do, people will start pushing at you whenever there are 3 suited onboard.

So a half-pot bet isn't sufficient. Bet the pot; be safe. If the turn is not a flush card, a half-pot bet there is okay, since opp needs >5:1 to call that.

Since a 4-flush has 1.86:1 odds against hitting BY the river, a 1/2 pot bet on the flop is insufficient to take away their odds anyways.
