I don't like mini raises at low levels. They usually scream "I have you beaten". I would have played it differently as I didn't have positition but the outcome would been most likely the same. But what do I know.

how would you play it different

Probably against all the rules but depending on read I would have just called the raise putting him on any high pair, AK,AQ,AJ or AT or on a flush draw on the flop and fold to a big bet on the turn (set?) or pushed if checked to me (missed flush draw). So if the opp was a good player I would have lost my stack here as well.

N.B. I am a beginner at cash games.

After you 3bet you have to call the push...

So the correct play would be

    a. I bet, opp raises, I fold
    b. I bet, opp raises, I push

even if faced by a min-raise only?

I hope I am not hijacking this thread.

Against a 22/2 you are beat when he pushes a large percent of the time. I would call the min raise and evaluate on the turn, looking to see a cheap (cheap as I can get) showdown.

If I am playing a tight game and villian is somewhat knowledgable are we ahead of a push. The money may all go in any way but I am not putting it all in like this.

Against a 33/10 or someone like that -- this is played fine

So basically you want to let the hands that you beat (draws and TP) see more cards for cheap, while the hands that beat you will get all the money in anyway?

Personally, I fold to a minraise there.

At lower stakes minraises SCREAM "I HAVE Top 2/ Set". Least from what I've seen.

Don't know how many times I've folded out to those and they show the set.

In this situation I am probably going to bet 1/2 pot or more on the turn. Then see what the opponent does.

This is so borderline that I may just lay it down because you can get into much better situations, whatever he has you can't be much olf a favorite even if you are winning.

thats what i was thinking also...i just wish it was deeper stacked. the re-reraise basically told me he has me crushed; I would think AQ would call there or at least wait 5 seconds before pushing back. i had a feeling i was beat after he minraised, but it would have felt so weak folding.

i was getting 2.5/1 odds on calling the push. is that enough to find a fold? I can only see one hand he could possibly have that i beat; aq. as played, tt and 44 are WAY more likely.

I probably call the minraise and bet/fold the turn. 3bet ai is fine.

btw don't trust the aggro numbers your sample is way too small, you need at least 200 hands to get any reading
