I think you played this just fine. When he checked the turn you must have put him on a flush draw, hence your call on the river. Nothing really much to say about this one.

This is why you fold preflop, so you don't have to deal with situations like these. As played I think it's fine.
My sig is too much for you to handle.

This hand kind of shows the reverse implied odds of limping Axs out of position and playing top pair...be glad he didn't extract more of your chips.

If I limped in pre flop, I'm really looking for two pair+ or a flush draw/flush. I would've probably check/folded this flop and bet a blank turn if it checked through, but betting at the flop is fine too with the draws out.

If you call the flop min raise and think a draw is likely, I think you should lead 1/2 pot on the turn and fold to a raise, to deny a free card and get some info. But checking is not bad either to control pot size.

Calling the river min raise is not too good either because you only beat a bluff really.

Isn't villain's turn check kind of fishy? The only hands that would check behind are draws or maybe weak aces.. I think the river minraise may be a poor attempt to bluff hero out?

It's highly fishy, but just looking at hero's pot odds, .75 for 4.25 = 18%, I think villain isn't bluffing that often, especially with a "call me" raise. I haven't played 5nl for a long time so maybe I'm off, but imo min raises on the river are strong hands 90% and bluffs 10% or less especially cuz I remember they slow play there too much.

I'd probably just fold on the flop. If I call, I'm not investing another dime unless I spike an 8 or something.

I thought limping with Axs was ok in a cash game?
sometimes even KTs?K9s, or even K2s?
    small PP?22-88?

or am I playing to loose?

It is ok, but you need to be good post flop, meaning have a plan for how you will play it. A plan that worked great for me at 5nl was to limp in, then bet huge if I spiked two pair+ or made a flush.

Playing one pair aggressive with A8 usually makes you lose a lot when behind and win little when ahead, which is what reverse implied odds are.
