If this is not the case I don't see how you're not losing a lot of value by making this play.

AA, KK, and then you are shit out of luck

or fool with AK or AQ

and with AK you are 50/50

So, which of my opponents has AA or KK from the betting? Might the big blind have them? Seems incredibly unlikely - the original minraiser is the only candidate and I think it's worth the risk.

At 25NL people DO call pushes with hands like 99 - I suspect 75% of the time I'll get all folds here and maybe at most 10% of the time I'll be up against KK/AA and another 10% against a hand I beat or dominate.

I personally think you should play that QQ properly. An open 11x pot push barely has any value IMO. Raise £2-£2.50 and see if the minraiser re-raises you. An UTG minraise looks like it could be something pretty big. You should at least get rid of MP1 and the button with this raise. Then you can hopefully play a flop.

all im going to say is, i used to do it, and watching people stack off with 66-99 vs an open sb push is very very funny.

best line is to make a big raise, imo something like £3 then anyone set chasing probably just made a mistake and AA/KK push.

Thanks for all your replies. As it happened, the button, who overcalled after a minraise and a caller, had KK. Pelion has had many laughs out of this hand, though, so it's not all bad

I actually dont think its terrible. Its almost certainly better than folding but I think playing the hand properly has alot more value. I think your biggest problem is that you miss alot of value when your QQ overpair doesnt come up against someone with a top pair of 9-J, and you dont give yourself the chance to get away from an A or K if someone like AK, AQ, KQ gets lucky. As we discussed I think this would be much worse if you were actually in position or if the stack sizes were larger.

I dont think this is terrible but I think it is pretty sub-optimal and IMO you should try to play as perfectly as you can all of the time. I personally havnt seen people calling as loose as TT- here but if you see it plenty let me know and Ill start betting bigger preflop

I've been seeing a LOT of bizarre KK play at Crypto this month. Stuff like limping behind 2 or 3 limpers ( think one guy did that on the button, even). It's been frustrating-- I had AA against one (who didn't reraise PF)and hit a set against another and only took down a modest pot both times and neither one took charge of the betting on rainbow ragged boards.

My winrate at Crypto has been about 1/2 of what it has been over the last 4 months. I'm hoping it's just variance but I'm wondering if there's been some other shift in the 25NL world that I didn't hear about. Any other Crypto players notice a little difference in the play there this month?

yeah its been full of crappy slowplaying nutpeddlers who sit around folding and thinking they're great because they can destack the occasional fish who wanders in.

the dynamic has definitely gone stale recently, its added to my too long downswing.

*sigh* I was afraid of this, though it's a little reassuring that it's not necessarily my play that's degraded but the profitability of the tables. I hope this does not represent the "Absolute"-ing of the Cryptos where the network gets so overrun with bonuswhores it becomes unplayable.
