Default I Think he's onto me...

Villain just arrived at table but seems to have caught onto my preflop and flop aggression pretty quickly.

He just called my 3 bullets when I flopped OESFD w 2nd pair mid kicker and, judging by his cadence, he's not a fish (almost timed out thinking about it). Plus he's started 3-betting me preflop.

The smooth-call preflop tells me he has a drawing hand.

    ** Game ID 908489121 starting - 2006-08-24 01:28:22
** Avalanche [Hold 'em] (1.00|2.00 No Limit - Cash Game) Real Money

    - Haile sitting in seat 1 with $206.00
    - Baggataway sitting in seat 2 with $124.00
    - DessEagle sitting in seat 3 with $42.22
    - d7d7d sitting in seat 4 with $214.05
HERO sitting in seat 5 with $222.70 [Dealer]

VILLAIN posted the small blind - $1.00
Haile posted the big blind - $2.00
** Dealing card to HERO : King of Spades, King of Hearts
    Baggataway folded
    DessEagle folded
    d7d7d folded
    HERO raised - $7.00
    VILLAIN called - $7.00
    Haile folded

** Dealing the flop: 3 of Clubs, Queen of Hearts, 9 of Diamonds
    POT : 15$

    VILLAIN checked
    HERO bet - $12.00
    VILLAIN called - $12.00

** Dealing the turn: Jack of Spades
    POT : 39$

    VILLAIN checked
    HERO bet - $23.00
    VILLAIN called - $23.00

** Dealing the river: King of Diamonds
    POT : 85$

    VILLAIN checked
    HERO ???

He's been willing to make heroic calls so my feeling is that the best line is a value bet to hopefully get a call from 2 pair and fold to a raise...

Maybe this is just standard and I'm wasting ppl's time.

Sounds like a calling station. ½ pot, fold to any raise.

CAll me a wus, but I just check it down here. I hate getting check raised on the river and I don't want to put in 1/2 pot and then fold or have to make that decision. Good chance he'll fold here if I bet anyway unless he has got me beat. Betting someething smaller than 1/2 pot just shows weakness and begs for a big raise.

unless you know youre playing one fo the top players on this prima 200nl game a check/raise river just isnt likely imo (im assuming this HH is prima, it looks like it anyway)

I played some Prima 200 yesterday and I found it pretty tough (afternoon). Quite a difference with the Party 200 donkfest last night..

I've logged about 2.5k hands so far and have let PT observe a shitload of hands. The norm seems to be loose-passive preflop and then weak-tight or weak-passive postflop.

This is awesome for me since I'm coming from B 2 B.

I was way off with my read. Villain turned out to be pretty bad after sitting with him for a longer period. His SN was Shifty50 or something (I'll edit when I get back to my cpu).

He smooth-called my 2/3 pot bet with Jd10d wtf... said "I was scared of Ace 10". hmmm.

Btw Johnnyfish had the exact opposite experience last night. Tough session on Prima so played some Party. Found the games riddled with Taggs (wtf!). Went back to Prima and slowly made it back vs the weak and loose passives...
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

the prima 100nl game is very nitty for me, although i have to admit i havent played it for probably 3months now. Yet i find just in the late evening (gmt/europe time) uite a few donkeys come online and want to gambOOl.
Certainly its tough to get the regulars to play big bet poker with you without the goods.
As for party, meh im running something dumb there like 22bbs/100 over 24k hands which is just zomg wrong, but fun.
My problem with the party game is that too many players get raised say with a hand like QQ on safe flops and just call down rather than letting me know my pair isnt good which is killing me a bit.

b2b just have me on a perma-doomswitch, -7bbs/100 over 15k or so there which sucks.
