Fold Equity in ring games

I'm a bit unclear about the concept of fold equity in ring games.

I believe it's the equity gained by the probability of others folding when you bet(?) - but can someone explain how that applies to ring games (when do I have it /when should I be factoring it into my decisions, etc)

It's why semi-bluffing has some added value, villian may fold when you don't make your hand because you're basically saying you do have a hand when you raise. You basically nailed it in your post anyway.

Well, when you have a strong draw you shouldn't mind a call, but you should always be happy with a fold. The only way your FE goes down is if you're against a calling station and they simply can not fold anything. You have no FE against people that will not fold, no matter how much you are saying you have a hand. With big draws, say you have 67 and the flop is 658 - you would have a monster draw. I would always play this aggressively, however I wouldn't necessarily mind someone folding... esspecially if the turn is a blank. When you flop monster draws and then turn brings like an offsuit 2, you lose a lot of value in your hand. With 1 card to come vs 2 cards to come it drops like 20%. I'm basically just rambling now, but I hope you get what I'm saying.
