How would you play this hand? I have called down ElkY on a $800 river bet a couple of hours ago, that time he had two pair. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have an ace here, don't think he'd play it like this, what do you think? But still, raising the flop here is expensive and I risk loosing 5k if I'm wrong. On river he might have hit a flush or FH though, and he also probably knows I'm not too keen on playing a huge pot oop with a marginal hand.

What do you think he has then? 99 he would re-raise preflop I think, AQ-AK as well, and I weaker ace I am pretty sure he would fold to my 3bet preflop. I can see him calling me preflop with a pocket pair and a SC. If he is slowplaying AA-QQ calling the first raise I think he would now 4-bet it, or if not, at least not raise flop with it unless it's AA. Does this make sense?

i dont think the majority of TAGs reraise 99 preflop, and i think he calls with alot of suited aces once you reraise because of the stack depth.

He's 23/16, only 750 hands, but that's not real TAG. Might be right with the suited aces, not too sure though, but then again would he raise those on the flop like this? I just don't see him having an ace, I was pretty sure on this, but I didn't feel like risking my whole stack on it, so I decided to call and reevaluate turn hoping for a cheap showdown. I'm kinda wondering if this is the best line even being pretty sure he has no ace.

if you dont think he has a boat or trips, then you could check/push the river. he is supposedly a solid player so he can fold a flush there or something like AJs. however a river c/r push might not be big enough to price him out of calling.

Hmm...I've watched Elky play in some stars cash games quite a bit and I don't think he's making that river bet planning on folding to a push..
But maybe he 'knows' that you 'know' that, in which case he will fold knowing he can't be good.

Haha yeah it would definitely be sexy, but probably just reckless. I would enjoy doing it with someone else's money though.

I don't get it. Do you think you're good at the river (impossible) or are you wondering you can push him off a better hand? I don't think he's folding often.

I don't like the flop either, you're ahead of the FD but you'll have to give him the free river anyway and are you confident in calling a river bluff if the draw misses?

I thought I was good at river, used up my whole time bank before I decided to call. I was never thinking of pushing him off a better hand, even though I'm pretty sure I could have pushed him off a flush. The point with the HH was to figure out if there was a better way to play it when you're pretty sure he has no ace, the way that gets most value out of it, I think this might have been the best way though. I can't see why pretty much everyone think it's a fold considering:
-He probably knows I'm new in that game and don't like calling huge bets loosing 1.5-2 buyins a hand.
-He is pretty certain I have no ace.
-He's also a 5k NL player so the money probably doesn't matter as much to him as to me, so it's easier for him to fire off a huge bluff.
-He has seen me 3-betting preflop quite a lot.

Sometimes hands were you actually win can be interesting too, and I certainly think it is possible to discuss something like this as long as I describe the background of the hand and my view on the other player.
