    IMO, if you are going to reraise, just shove. You don't leave enough behind not to.

    It's fine. This line is better if you intend to 3-bet bluff with it.

    how often can you really 3bet bluff on that board? i mean you gotta have a least a semi-bluff in that spot usually. maybe i'm misinterpreting your post fnord. you mean so he can 3bet bluff like that on other flops using the same line? if so:

    Yeah, probably not on that board.

    The idea is you re-raise to an amount that would commit you because a thinking player realizes it commits you and must give it the same respect as an all-in. However, if you're bluffing you can save a little cash and pull the plug when called. Pretty routine implied threat that goes way back to Brunson's NLHE section of SS.
