    Default My work called

    And said

"Chris, we need to have a discussion regarding your employment here at Canadian Diabetes Association... Could you come in on Monday morning at 8AM? Thank you."

    Am I fired, y/n (poll)

And if so, should I do any antics? Like throw eggs or stinkbomb or what?

do you, in fact, have diabetes? *

In office space they fired people on Fridays because it results in less outbursts, so by theory of hollywood, you are safe. Hit on your boss's wife at the company party of the weekend.

What days of the week do you work where they have to call you at home today, and then ask for you to come in on Monday. Sounds to me like you don't go to work very often. You're ffffffired!

I'm a casual employee there, which means at the start of every week I tell them what days I can work. I've done nothing wrong in the 3 months ive been there, and I'm on the bottom of the totem poll.

    No I dont have diabetes.

Gutshot, I've gone pro, hence why I got a job

In light of new info, I would guess they are gonna be like "we need you to work a regular schedule" or "we don't really need a slackdick like yourself who only works a couple hours a week. Goodbye"

    Thoughts?

If you get fired it's at the end of the day and they don't let you see it coming by giving you a heads-up call.

Seriously. Even the biggest raise at a typical company equates to one extra dinner and a movie per week.

I think they're going to tell you that you need to start working regular schedule (40hrs/wk) or let you go if you don't accept.

    Whatever happens, good luck!

If you were supposed to be at work when they called, FIRED. Otherwie, they want to change the conditions. Also, a non-profit at 8ammaybe they want you to accept a new position so they can announce it when everyone shows up at 9:10am. You should have the feeling in your gut what they want, and I never would have let them hang that on your head for a whole weekend. You should have went in right away and forced there hand.

I'm fired... 4 days before my 3 month prohibation period would have ended, they fired me. The shop steward was with me and took me outside afterwards and told me the real reason they fired me... It was a mistake to hire me and they were just waiting to fire me until my prohibation period was over (and if I screw up enough)... So last weekend I called in sick cause I had the flu, and apparently calling in sick is enough to warrent getting fired. Oh well, was kind of a shitty job anyways, I'll go work at The Keg as a waitor and make a little more then twice as much money, haha

So they called you in early on a monday morning just to fire you? Your boss must have been a huge douchebag. That's like adding insult to injury. Well, more like adding unnecessary fatigue to unemployment, but you get the idea.

P.S. Getting fired qualifies you for unemployment benefits, right?

They sucked you out, but you have the longterm advantage.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?

Being let go during your probationary period for missing a day isn't uncommon. In 12 years of mfg, I have seen it dozens of times. Probationary periods are just that. Walk the tightest rope you can. Miss a day in your first three months, that supposedly gives them an idea of your work ethic (not saying I agree with that, just relaying what I have been told).

They could have just fired you over the phone, but some employers insist on face to face.

That sucks! They can just fire you for calling in sick one day? In my company's union we still have to give the guy a final warning during his probation period. And even then it has to be for a reason they would get written up for under the union. Not a sick call or anything like that. I feel ripped off...
