Here I flop my flush but solid tight opp likes his hand. I put him on a set or a draw to a higher flush than mine after the flop. Did I play this ok? especially when the board paired on the river?

Hand 1: I dont like an early position raise with AT. It gets you into tricky spots later on when you could be dominated. After the reraise you should definatly dump it.

With the flop action I think you will see AK alot here. You have to call with so many outs IMO.

Hand 2: standard

Hand 3: You might be able to bet a little more on the flop but its pretty standard.


Overall comments. Be very careful playing weak aces from early position, especially if someone raises behind you. If you look in pokertracker (if you have it) you will probably find its costing you money. It certainly will do at higher stakes.

1) i hate everything about this hand preflop
2) its cool, I doubt I would have done much different
3) I would have bet more on the flop, don't wanna give Ah Xxodds for a better flush

1. fold preflop. also, fold after 3bet.

I generally limp suited aces for flush value. Is this a leak?

Hand 1 post flop: Since i was in the pot for flush value and hit the nuts draw is potting it the right strategy? I'm not sure. Im comfortable with my call of the all in because I had better pot odds than I needed, but what im really uncomfortable with is raising when i have a flush draw.

I would never do this in sngs. In fact i dont limp suited aces in SNGs either.

I assume by renton's post, you meant his beginner's circle preflop/postflop strategy. He outlines when to raise what hands, etc., and ATs is only a raise from late position (i think its button, CO and CO+1, not sure though)

He also states that limping suited aces or suited kings ON THE BUTTON (maybe CO as well) is profitable, if there are limpers ahead of you.

You may want to read them again and write down the raising range from each position on a notecard.

limping from early position is good in a passive game where you are almost guarenteed a cheap flop.

Limping in an aggressive game where you will usually have to fold to a raise is a leak (Calling the raise is an even bigger leak).

I limp suited aces from late position if it is unlikely to be raised (and from early position ONLY IF it is unlikely to be raised.)

Alot of your value from small suited aces like A3 comes from stacking a smaller flush so a multiway pot is good.

Ill often raise ATs from late position though since your kicker has a good chance of being good AND you are likely to be in position post flop.

The game was passive as hell which should have made my ears prick up when i got reraised. I think in the same sort of game i would limp this and fold to a raise but ill definately be leaving the suited aces till late position in a normal game in future.
