Default QJo. Bad play. Gimme some critique?

I didn't have any reads on this guy as he just sat in.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    Button ($9.55)
    SB ($16.40)
    BB ($10)
    Hero ($12.15)
    UTG+1 ($1.60)
    MP1 ($14.75)
    MP2 ($5.45)
    MP3 ($5.80)
    CO ($17.80)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J, Q.
Hero calls $0.10, UTG+1 calls $0.10, 4 folds, Button calls $0.10, SB completes, BB checks.

    Flop: ($0.50) 9, Q, 4 (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $0.4, UTG+1 folds, Button raises to $1.1, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls $0.70.

    Turn: ($2.70) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $1, Hero calls $1.

    River: ($4.70) Q (2 players)
Hero bets $3, Button raises to $7.35, Hero calls $4.35.

    Final Pot: $19.40

I now notice many great mistakes about the hand. First of all, I should've put him on a set or 2 pair at the flop. What the hell was I thinking... maybe I was hoping something like QTs. Obviously I shoulda folded at this point, right?

What about turn? River? Fold at the river after his RR? It sure looks like a full house at this point.

What do you think about my reasoning? Gimme tips please.

Don't limp QJ0 UTG. Fold preflop. If bets are a conversation then you have to ask yourself what he's telling you with his raise on the flop. You have TPWK and no diamonds in your hand.

    fold preflop

Fold pre-flop, then fold again on the flop. It's a nothing pot and you don't have a hand you want to play a big pot with in this game.

Thanks. Usually I do fold this from this position and play better overall. Sometimes I go into this "mode" and start playing loose and reckless. I guess it's because I have only 3 months under my belt.

You guys were the same when you started out, weren't you? Please say you were...

Getting control over your inner beast is pretty huge.

LOL. I'm still loose and reckless. I just got better at it. I was definately god awful when I first started playing NL. Don't worry about it. Get some hands under your belt and think about your game along the way. Poker is more complicated than you could ever imagine as a beginning player.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Thanks for your encouraging words. The good thing is I notice I'm getting better. I also ordered Theory of Poker and NLHE Theory and Practice.

lol, you're certainly capable of gearing down.

I think there is a pretty marked difference between being a little spewy and playing catch-up poker after a string of cold cards (tilt.)

A world of difference. I geared down with a purpose when you were at my tables though. It's because our mutual small action, such as loose calls preflop and modest floating around stimulated action. It became senseless to dick around without cards once people caught the gamble.

There was enough scraps flying around coupled with the fact that I was mildly aware you were going to put me in line if I started fucking with the tables. I know I would have done the same to you. That kind of shit happens with a couple players like us being aware of each other at a 6-max. I know you're not just solid. You're chameleon solid. Just as I am, you are capable of anything at any time. I know you would 3 bet me preflop with any two if you felt like the equity was there.

Those two factors turned me solid tagg for our session. Stick another two of us at the table though and the fireworks would obviously start flying. Fair enough? I don't respect a lot of players at the cash tables, but with you it has to be unearned. I know you're dangerous.
