Heads up pre-flop raising

Are most people sticking to the 3xBB raise to open hands head up whilst blinds aren't crippling (up to 200 / 400 say)?

yeah, for the most part. Although this is where I really like to switch it up. I might make 3 straight 3x raises, then throw in a 2.5x or even something stupid like 4x, just to see the response. I want to see if villian is paying attention and his responses to each.
