Weak bet? puts me in a fish bowl with trips

OK, Guys, tear me a new one. I'm that rookie that you guys can't stand on this forum cuz I play like a kitten. That's why I'm here though. I made a weak bet (I think) on this flop that landed me in fishy waters, so after making that crucial mistake, did I make the right move? Lardbum is our classic fish, L1I1 is tight, but not really aggressive. He's been waiting for a sure million dollar hand for like ayear.

Raise the flop a little more... pot is $15 when it gets to you, so to $18 is pot-sized. I think raising to $15 or so is fine though. Turn is tough. You could check behind when the scare card falls, but then you're giving any spade a chance to beat you. I think I like a slightly smaller turn bet, ~$20. It still denies odds to the flush draw and is a little easier to get away from. The c/r screams flush and coming from a tight player I think you should find a fold here.

as usual, good advice from zook, but I feel that somehow villian really likes his hand and we can make even bigger than pot sized bet ($20+), potentially inducing an all in. Villian could have something like KQs and really like his chances against top pair, thinking he is also factoring his over cards as outs.

I don't slowplay a set unless the board is rainbow and villian shows weakness, then the ev+ is to let him catch up as the only card that can hurt is a PP that hits an overset. slowplay usually just lets your opponent draw for cheap, which is bad in almost all cases.

mixchange: The problem is that the flush hits the turn. I suggested betting a little less on the turn not as a slowplay but as a way of keeping the pot smaller in case one of the opponents hit and is going for a c/r. No matter how much you bet, the question becomes whether lardbum is capable of a turn bluff c/r for his stack here. In my first reply, I mixed up the villains... I thought the tighty had c/r'ed the turn, in which case it's a little easier to find a fold. But since Faceblaster calls lardbum a classic fish, I don't mind the call.

I totally botched reading the hand, I mixed up villian and hero. I was thinking villian had re-raised him, not vice versa.

You are right, $12-15 is about right on the flop. If he calls anyway and the flush hits and you end up stacking off, this is not as big of a deal as he was not correct to call.

his flop bet screams semi-bluff (a draw possibly with middle or bottom pair), so I check turn when flush does hit. You want your opponent to call and make mistakes, but if the hand you fear hits, time to slow down. the fact that he checked is quite common when flushes hit, people want to induce bets from lesser hands. You check also and pray that board pairs on the river. Check-raise is one of the most common moves when the flush hits, so best to avoid it and just check. Call value sized bets on the river, but not much else unless board pairs.

IMO the only hand that calls your turn bet is one that has you beat, so i would not make it.

I definitely agree with you guys. I knew that I made wrong moves on this hand, but once the twenty-five was in, I decided to do some fishing of my own. There was little doubt he had a flush, and as soon as I made the bet,I was kicking myself. I don't think there is much left to be said for this, so here are the results:
