Default Operation Open Up and Maximize Monies

Hi all, as most of you know i'm the twin brother of the infamous IowaSkinsFan. We both started out with $50 from our father on our birthday at 17, and have made our way up to 100NL. Soon we are going to split BR's, but not yet.

Anyways, although i don't mind being tight, I feel that i have a great postflop game and could really maximize my EV by loosening up a little bit! I'm pretty sure i have some of the tightest stats on this forum in 6-max holdem.

    So here is my goal:

My goal is to loosen up my preflop stats in a manner that will maximize my EV. By 100k hands (which will probably be a combination of 1/2 and .5/1) i want to have a VPIP close to 20 and whatever PFR goes along with that.

So far, here is what i've implemented into my game (starting at 40k hands):
    1. cold call raises in position with suited connectors and suited one gap connectors
    2. threebet lighter from the button when there is a loosish CO raiser.

I don't feel like i'm that tight when not looking at stats, so i really can't think of anything to do to loosen up. Pretty much i've decided i'm going to open up my button raising range a bit and see how it goes. I'll be posting my marginal hands in this post, if anyone has any input it'd be great.

Try and use Fortune 500's operation thing, it's pretty cool.

Just steal blinds lighter and you're percentages go up without risking much. Thats all there is too it really.

How come you guys don't kill each other when one of you has a big losing session? And ydo you ever have "who is the better player fights"?
  6. #6
Because we're twins and we know each other is just as good as the other. AND no we never have the who is the better player fights. It's not interesting, we have the same account, we want each other to be just as good as the other.

the only time i'll open K7 is when im at least 90% sure im winning the blinds (e.g. at 2/4 full ring).

My VPIP is over twenty percent and my opening ranges go something like this:

    UTG: AT+ A6s+ KJ+, 22+, QJs, JTs

MP: add KTs, T9s+, QJo, A2s+, maybe some mid suited connectors

    HJ: add K9s, 76s+, T8s+, JTo+

    CO: add K8s, 45s+ 86s+, 89o+, T8o+

BTN: add some offsuit aces, K2s+, anything suited or connected thats somewhat decent at all.

This probably adds up to way more than 20% vpip, but obviously you adjust your ranges based on image or whose in the blinds.

    here's mine

UTG: AJ+, KQo, 22+, sc's 45 or greater (only about 40% of the time though, although QJs, KQs and AKs i raise everytime)
MP: Same as UTG, but more likely to raise low sc's
CO: A2s+, A9o+, any two cards T and up (ie JT, QT, KJ, etc.), sc's and suited one gappers with no cards under 4.
BTN: same as CO, add weaker unsuited aces and highish suited two gappers.

I think my desire is a happy medium between our two.

And FYI i think you're too loose (just my nitty ass opinion) if those are really your ranges...

like i was saying, it definitely fluctuates based on the game im playing in. When i played a short session 4 tabling 2/4 today, my stats were 19.5/16.5/3.6. The other day i played a session where i was 26/21/4.

There's almost no such thing as too loose pre. Bldswttears played 37/20 on Party back in the day right? That's prob the Max.

Bring your blind steal to 35%. BTW my ranges are almost 10 pts higher at each position than Rents...

Update: Today i played 2k hands at 21/16.5 with a steal blinds at 32%! Sadly i was down 300 but it was just varience. I've noticed that my AF is ridiculosuly high though...

I was wondering what changes you have to make to your standard postflop game (aka cont betting, double barreling, etc.) if are loosening up?

you could probably loosen up even more. Don't be afraid to raise utter junk on the BU and CO with limpers. shit like Qxs and Kxs.

Yay, my VPIP is now 18%. Over the last 4k hands i've been running around 22/18. I'm really liking this.

Changes: I started raising suited Kx's in late on non aggro tables (which is almost every table i choose). I loosened up my EP raising range and raise suited Qx's and other crap in postion when the table is very passive.

    OPERATION COMPLETE!

Thank you to everyone who posted. I didn't get my lifetime stats to what i wanted, but i've loosened up a ton! Here are my 1/2 hands this month.

As you see it's much better and it's paying off so far.

Verry nice, I'm gradually trying to make my way up to those stats as after working on my game I find myself a 17/14.5.

Ha, yeah. Pretty much all i did is started raising a way wider range on the CO and Button (depending on the table tightness). If they table is very tight i just go wild. But now in general i'm raising suits K's and sometimes suited Q's on the Button and CO. i loosened up my early position raising range only a bit. I also started to raise 9To and 98o, and suited 2 and 3 gappers in late.

6, sometimes 7. It's hard to play more than 6 on my laptop.
