Default small set scary flop short stacked need advice

    Hi;
I have been getting shelled at Full Tilt Poker lately, so I thought I would post one of my most recent beatings I have taken. I do not care about the results of this SNG I only would like to make sure I made the correct play (I refuse to blame luck or play results oriented poker). Here's what happened:

    Pre-flop: (7 players) hero is SB with 5♥ 5♠
UTG calls t80 (pot was t120), UTG+1 calls t80 (pot was t200), MP1 calls t80 (pot was t280), 2 folds, hero calls t40 (pot was t360), BB checks.

Here the pot is 360 and I do worry about the flop but I think my hand 'should' be good on the flop. My dilemma is with the possible flush and straight draws I don't think I can bet any less than pot to protect my hand. I have 1155 in chips so I worry about betting pot as I will have a third of my chips in pot and what will I do on the turn if the board doesn't pair? I think I should bet slightly more than pot because if opponent has a very strong draw (like a straight and a flush draw) I doubt I can bet them off their hand. I decide the best play is to assume my hand is probably good on flop and shove to protect it. Does anyone make a different play here and if so why? I know even if my opponent has exactly straight or flush I have 10 outs to improve to a full house...hence the push.

    Flop: 4♣ 5♣ 7♣ (t400, 5 players)
hero is all-in t1155, BB folds, UTG calls t1155 (pot was t1555), 2 folds.
    Turn: A♦ (t2710, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t2710)
    River: 9♣ (t2710, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t2710)

could you please give me your thoughts on the hand?

    Thanks!!!!

    ok so here it goes:
You limp PP and hit trips... but the board is all same suit. Happened to me recently in a MTT and I basically did the same thing - pushed right into a flush.
I was 4th int the tourney at the time and then bubbled out of the money(so Ive thought about this hand alot)
The thing is if someone already has a made hand your broke... so the push isn't good.
Lets assume they have the Ac and still need to catch a club - 9 clubs remaining with 2 cards to come is like 20% to improve.
So bet 1/2 the pot you give him 25% to chase , which is a mistake if he does, and if he reraises you fold and aren't out of the tournament. It's hard to get rid of trips but it's a marathon not a sprint. It's not about winning 1 hand.

Any day you get all your chips in on the flop when you flop a set is a good day. I would probably bet 600 on the flop, call any push and get the rest in on the turn if called, but if your push is going to get called then that's fine too.

If anybody flopped a flush or straight, you have 7 outs to improve on the turn and 10 on the river. Nh.

BTW, stack sizes are really important in SNGs, if you're posting HHs make sure they come out!

looks fine, I prefer the push here with a mutliway pot, you rep the draw and hopefully prevent it going 3 way.

Thanks for the replies, I just couldn't bring myself to bet pot since my stack size was 1155 sorry if I might have omitted that info. I think this is a push or a fold the only other thought I had was to check and hope the board pairs? I am out of position so this play seems to weak to me. Guess I will just have to be patient with my sets and realize I will be out-flopped from time to time, but 'that's Poker'.

If luck weren't involved I guess I would win every one -Phil Hellmuth.

With 400 chips out there and only 1100 behind, you should be pushing this. If someone flopped a straight, thats just bad luck, but its more likely noone did. You likely have the best hand here, and also have a redraw if you dont, so getting it all in is exactly what you want, especially from AcXx wanting to gamble.

I dont see any other play here, the pot is multiway you are OOP and the board is pretty dangerous, that not a situation you want to get tricky, and you probably have the best hand, therefore push and hope for the best

Agree with above, you have to push, if he has the flush then 'nh' or 'cnut' depending on your disposition

I wouldn't think about folding a set in this situation. Also, to the posted above that said this was trips, it's called a set. Getting your chips in on the flop is fine. Don't be result oriented.

yeah, I still bet 1/2 the pot - if someone has a made hand they will re-raise - and you'll know they have a str8 or flush, your behind and should fold. Mostly you'll probably just take it down.

If you are behind you can decide to chase your 10 outs if you get the right pot odds, but even then your not out if your wrong.
