Default Hey, I didn't expect you to check!

I've gotten dealt a bunch of monsters in the last 10 hands and won like all of them. This guy is a decent player but he has a pretty loose re-raising range and I think he's just playing back at me so while I'd usually fold pre-flop here I'm pretty much just looking to hit a flop and go with it.

I really had no clue what he had when he checked the flop.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    SB ($112.75)
    BB ($105.35)
    Hero ($194.50)
    Button ($95.40)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A, T.
Hero raises to $4, 2 folds, BB raises to $14, Hero calls $10.

    Flop: ($28.50) Q, K, 8 (2 players)
    BB checks, Hero?

You raised UTG, if the guy is threebetting light u can shove a lot of flops, but i highly doubt anyone threebets an UTG raiser that light.
i prob check behind because i see too many c/r here.

Even against light 3-bettors, I still never call with ATo...but that's just me.

As played, I check behind flop.

I'm with that, I hate taking a stab at these pots and getting check/raised. I'll take my free card. If it's a blank and he checks the turn, I'd probably take a stab at it there.

If he's any good then this check can mean a lot of things

If he's ordinary/bad postflop then just bet and think about 2-barelling if he checks to you on the turn and there's a decent bet left in your stacks.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

It does sound hugely like he simply wants to check/raise you. However, the flop isn't good for a low PP or ATC, so it could be genuine. Still, he might three bet you anyway. Take the free card.

He checked, turn was a jack giving me the nuts and he folded to a $20 bet.

The thing with betting is that he has to fold a whole lot of the time (like 2/3 or so) because if he's ever hoping to c/r, I win a stack if I check and turn the nuts. I think it's possible that he will fold 2/3 of the time given the action though.
