    Default Odds Calculators

    Hi,
Not sure this is the correct section to post this question so apologies if not.
I wanted to ask about Odds Calculators. Do you use them, if so how useful you find them and have you ever heard of one called Holdem Genius?

Thanks in adavance for your help.

    hmmm, spam?

Odds calc like the one auto-linked are good. It helps you determine where you're at for pot odds and such.

In game "bet like this" won't work against someone paying a little bit of attention.

Pot odds are for suckers in NL cash games.

hehe, you know what I mean. Do you really need a program to help you bet based on pot odds at NL? How many decisions do you use pot odds for that a simple 4/2 rule can't provide? In NL the implied odds are so much more important for your betting and calling with Draws and non- made hands that the pot odds are not what you are using, are you? If I'm wrong, can anyone explain what we would need a program to do that we can't do ourselves when it comes to NL and pot odds.

, it's not worth a big discussion because I think this is spam anyway.

By "and such" I meant pot equity, implied odds, etc.

No, we don't need a program to do this stuff in game. I find general odds calculators (e.g. pokerstove) useful for off-line analysis.

It links to FTR's anyway ( i don't know if it did) but if it is spam, it's still something that could spark some discussion for Noobs. I use pokerstove all the time now, (FREE) especially against ranges and such, myself. After watching ABA use it in a CR Vid I have found even better use for it with PT.

Pot odds are very important when used properly, but anyone that folds an OESD against an obvious overpair because they didn't have enough pot odds on their calculator they paid for is losing alot of money. Hence the comment earlier. I only make that general statement to allow someone to ask the questions if they don't know why.

It was a genuine question from I guess a novice player reading different articles about odds calculators.

    I appreciate the comments.
