Default having problems adjusting to party from stars...

on a 5 buyin downswing right now. i know, that's not much. but i feel like i'm getting my ass handed to me soundly. part of it is running bad, but i think i'm not adjusting properly to more aggressive players where bluffing is a big part of their range.

at the time, i didn't even give a damn what kind of read i had. i put him in the generic party category of "lagtard who bluffs everything." needless to say, i quit my session after this hand.

Hero checks, UTG bets $32, Hero calls $102.15 (All-In), UTG calls $53.15.

relatively high variance play vs a short stacker...i think this is pretty normal.

hand 2 is badly misplayed u need to either check/call whole hand to induce bluffs or fold somwhere- raising lets him play perfectly and u make an overbet

hand 3 u need to raise more preflop. postflop is opp dependant as check/folding, double barreling, and c/r shoving turn can all be right

    I agree with sauce.

Also, having to adjust from stars to party is a good problem to have.

funny the one hand i thought i misplayed worst is "standard."

how much do you guys typically 3bet preflop, and why? my 3bets are usually in the range of "pot."

About 3x the PFR when in position postflop and 4x the PFR when OOP postflop

To cut down on implied odds with 100BB stack.

Raising pot in hand 3 would be 16.5.

Agree with Sauce on Hand 2 and 3, don't really like hand 1 w/ out an accurate read, but it's def not horrible.

    how did you arrive here?

    blinds = 1.5
    CO raises 5.
    so pot = 6.5

    so if i 3bet, shouldn't pot be 6.5*2 = 13?

For example, let us assume that there is $10 in the pot at the start of a betting round. The first player may open the betting for up to $10. If he does in fact open for $10, the next player may raise to $40 (after calling the $10 bet, the total amount of the pot is $30, so he may raise $30). The third player would be entitled to raise to $140 (after calling $40, the pot would contain $100, thus he may raise $100). Any player may also raise less than the maximum so long as the amount of the raise is equal to or greater than any previous bet or raise in the same betting round.

I 3-bet 3.5x bet plus the bet amount for any limpers. I'm considering going for 4x though for unknowns. Pokerroom they call your 3-bets so liberally.

Basically pot after you call the raise + what you need to call
  12. #12
pot-sized raise = $ in the pot + $ for you to call

    In this case, that = $6.50 ($5+blinds) + $4.50 ($5 - your SB) = $11

Since $5 has been bet, you would make it $16. When I'm oop I usually bump it up a little b/c I don't mind taking it down pre-flop, so I'd make it $20.

I don't disagree but I am quite surprised to see you advocate a c/c with TP vs. a short stack. Or are we worried about our kicker?
