Hero raises to $8, 2 folds, Button calls $8, 2 folds.

    Flop: ($19) Q, Q, 8 (2 players)
Hero bets $10, Button calls $10.

Hero bets $20, Button calls $20.

    River: ($79) 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $60, Hero ????????

No reads, villain hasn't played a big pot, but has not been 3 betting at all. Hasn't seemed particularly aggressive.

Anyone think this is a bluff and call? =

    I think you should've bet/folded the river.

    What they said ^

As played, i call. I doubt someone would play three queens this way. Looks more like a busted flush draw/queen bluff.

you need to stop thinking of this hand as what is my river decision.

Pretty easy bet/fold versus this player, versus an aggro donk i check call.

But yeah, tough spot how you played it. I think it's pretty marginal, and i'm really unsure whether calling or folding is better.

But, I've been getting a LOT of value lately though out of check/calling rivers on boards with some scare cards where villain decides to bluff river...
    so I am kinda torn.

When you check you should think to yourself, what do you know about opp?? You figure him to be quite passive,no?? so id go bet/fold vs this guy bcoz if i was to check id expect him to check behind ALOT of hands fearing our hand hence we miss the value of about 1/2-3/4 pot bet. Here this apparently passive player has opted to bet instead of check behind so i beleive we fold given the info we have.
Jman: every time the action is to you, it's an opportunity for you to make the perfect play.

Don't lead three streets unless villain is a bit of a station and/or you have a loose enough image to get value from it. As played, river check is good. Now call. The fact that villain seems passive isn't that important because lol they always bet in these spots.

Marginal spot, if I thought about it enough I would call.

Usually I bet fold to get value out of mid pocket pairs that like to call down on these boards but thats only 99 & 1010 here, 88 & 77 have a boat.
So I dont mind check calling a reasonable bet - 1/2 pot to get value from a bluffing flush.

My gut feel given your reads was that it was a slowplayed overpair, scared of 2 queens on the flop that realises its good on the river. Could also be a lucky boat but you've basically telegraphed that you don't have a queen with your river check, so their 8/10 river bet isn't going to get paid off alot.

So the combination of the bet seeming large given the situation, & that it would be a strange way for 90% of hands that beat you to play I call expecting to see a busted flush/ worse hand enough to make it +ev.
