    Default Blogs

Sorry if this has been brought up. There has been several (hundred??) comments about the blogs, and not being updated by bloggers. I gotta tell you, as a newer FTR blog member, they are not set up very well. They are hard to work within. nobody knows when there are updates like you do when someone posts in an operation thread, and they aren't directly linked to the comment thread since you have to post a link to it in every update.

I think what happens is it becomes tiring to post in that format, most questions or comments get little or no response because nobody checks them regularly except the bloggers and people just stop bothering within a couple weeks from lack of interest. It's much easier to post in the forum to get responses or comment. Are there any changes that can be made at all to the format to allow easier posting, better recognition of new posts for forum members and maybe even have someone do more with the blog page. Most of the links are old and outdated and a lot of the blogs are just taking up space. Maybe just put them into a bin and if someone wants to rehash one you can replace it.

pretty much. When I have time to focus on poker again I'll be making an operations thread instead of updating the blog for those exact reasons.

I agree too. There's gotta be some way to highlight when someone updates their blog.

Maybe the bloggers could get stickied operation threads? Maybe the blogs themselves can just be placed in a forum as opposed to a separate part of FTR?? Maybe a link to the blog in the avatar portion of our posts, showing an update?? I like having something apart from the huge influx of operation threads, but I had 150 comments in my old3 page "Drive thread" but the blog comment thread is lacking sorely.

On the other hand, i know if we want responses to our standard questions and postings, we should just post a regular thread. It is possible we aren't supposed to use the blogs for quite the same purpose as the Forum, but more traffic would be nice and then maybe we could find a niche for these blogs.

The ease of use is probably the second biggest problem behind the lack of notification of new posts.

This may be possible. At the moment, though, we're currently looking at different blog apps that would fully integrate the blogs with our forum app, phpBB2. This will resolve just about all the issues people have had with our current blogging app.

Anyone have any suggestions for blog apps that integrate with phpBB?
